İngilizce Articles Video Konu Anlatımı

Speak English® online video derslerine hoş geldiniz. Benim adım Cari. Bugünkü öğretmeninizim ve konumuz artikeller / tanımlıklar. İngilizce’de üç adet article bulunur: a, an, the. lk olarak “a” ve “an” arasındaki farktan bahsedelim.
Welcome to the Speak English® online video lessons. My name’s Cari. I’ll be your teacher today and our topic is articles. So in English we only have three articles a, an and the. Let’s first talk about the difference between a and an.

Bu biraz karışık, çünkü bunu (“an”) yalnız sesli harfle başlayan kelimelerle kullanırız. İngilizce’deki sesli harfler nelerdir?“a, e, i, o, u” dur. Bu yüzden, eğer cümlenizde bir “apple” (elma) kelimesi bulunuyorsa, “a apple” diyemeyiz. “an apple” demeliyiz. Aynı durum eğer bir “elephant” (fil) kelimesi varsa geçerlidir. “an elephant” demek zorundayız. “a” ve “an” arasındaki problem bundan ibarettir.
Unfortunately, it’s a little complicated because with an we can only use words that begin with vowels. What are English vowels? a, e, i, o and u. So, unfortunately, if your sentence has an apple, one apple, we cannot say a apple. We must say an apple. Same thing if we have an elephant, one elephant. We must use an elephant. So that’s the only problem with a and an.

Bugün esas olarak “a”, “an”, “the” arasındaki farklar üzerinde konuşuyor olacağız.Eğer “an elephant” veya “the elephant” arasında bir tercih yapmanız gerekiyorsa durum daha karmaşık hale gelebilir. “an apple” mı yoksa “the apple” mı?
Today, mainly, we’re going to be talking about the difference between a, an and the. Things get much more complicated if you’re choosing between an elephant or the elephant. An apple or the apple.

Öyleyse haydi birkaç örneğe bakalım.
So let’s look at some examples.

Birkaç kuralımız var.
We have a few rules.

Bir numaralı kural:
Rule number one:

“a” ve “an” genel anlamda kullanılan tekil bir ismi tanımlar.
a and an will be for a general, singular noun.

İkinci kural:
Our second rule:

“the” genellikle spesifik/belirli bir tekil ismi tanımlar. Yani tekil, sadece bir nesneden bahsettiğiniz anlamına gelir. İki, üç değil, yalnız bir adet genel ve spesifik olması önemlidir.
the is normally for a specific, singular noun. So singular means you’re talking about one thing. Not two, not three, only one and general and specific are also important.

Örneğin:
For example:

Eğer açsam “manav”a giderim ve orada yüzlerce ve yüzlerce elma vardır. Öyleyse eğer bu kadın açsa, hangi elmayı seçeceğinin bir önemi var mıdır?Sadece bu elmayı seçmesi önemli mi, örneğin, bu önemli midir? Hayır, normalde değil.

if I’m hungry, I go to the “manav” and they have hundreds and hundreds of apples. So if this woman is hungry, is it important which apple she chooses? Is it important that she only chooses this apple, for example, is that important? No, not normally.

Tüm elmalar aynıdır, doğru mu? Tüm elmalar kırmızıdır, örneğin. Yani kadın şöyle düşünebilirdi, acıktım, bir elma istiyorum. Hangisi olduğu önemli değil, herhangi bir tanesi olur. Ama özellikle bu elmayı gerçekten istiyorsa, o durumda cümleyi değiştirmem gerekir.
All the apples are the same, right? They are all red apples, for example. So she might think, I’m hungry, I want an apple. Which is not important, any is OK. But, if she really, really wants this apple, then I need to change the sentence.

“Elmayı istiyorum.” (I want the apple) Ve muhtemelen “bu elmayı istiyorum” (I want this apple) diyecektir. Unutmayın “the” ve “this” ifadeleri çok benzer kavramlardır, öte yandan “a”, “an” ve “any” birbirine çok benzer kavramlardır.
I want the apple. And she’ll probably say I want this apple. So remember the and this are very similar concepts whereas an or a and any is a very similar concept.

Haydi başka bir örneğe bakalım.
Let’s look at another example.

Belki yavru bir köpeğimiz var ve bir kemik istiyor. Tamam, köpek bunu istiyor. Ama bu özel, spesifik bir kemik mi? veya sıradan bir kemik midir? Muhtemelen sıradan.Öyleyse cümlemiz şu şekilde olabilir: “I want a bone (Bir kemik istiyorum).” Yani önemli değil.Herhangi bir kemik, doğru mu, o önemsemez.Herhangi bir kemik olabilir. Büyük bir kemik, küçük bir kemik, bir tavuk kemiği, bir inek kemiği.Bu önemli değil. Dolayısıyla “a bone (bir kemik)” ifadesini kullanırız.
Maybe we have a puppy dog and he’s thinking about a bone. OK, so the puppy wants this. But is it a special, is it a specific bone? Or is it a general bone? Probably general. So our sentence can be I want a bone. So it’s not important. Any bone, right, he doesn’t care. It can be any bone. A big bone, a small bone, a chicken bone, a cow bone. It’s not important. So, we use a bone.

Farklı bir örnek verelim.
Let’s do a different example.

Bir arkadaşımız var ve burası onun sokağı.Belki de sokağın adı Rose Street’ tir. ve evi hangi sokakta? belki o da Rose Street’teki bir evde yaşadığını söyler. Bu çok genel, hangi ev? Bilmiyorum ama belki cümleyi değiştirirsem.“I live in the big house on Rose Street (Rose Street’teki büyük evde oturuyorum).” Şimdi daha spesifik, bu yüzden “the” kullanmam gerekli. I live in the big house on Rose Street (Rose Street’teki büyük evde oturuyorum).” Yani tekil genel isimler ve spesifik tekil isimlere dikkat etmelisiniz.
Maybe we have a boy and this is his street. Maybe the street name is Rose Street. And which street is his house? Maybe he says I live in a house on Rose Street. That’s very general, which house? I don’t know, but maybe I change the sentence. I live in big house on Rose Street. Now, it’s more specific so I want to use the. I live in the big house on Rose Street. So you have to be careful about your general singular nouns and your specific singular nouns.

Haydi bir sonraki kuralla devam edelim.
Let’s continue to the next rule.

Üç numaralı kural.
Rule number three.

Aynı isimden tekrar tekrar bahsediyorsanız, örneğin, bir hikâyeden bahsediyorsunuz ve hikâye tümüyle, siyah bir köpek hakkında.
Hikaye tamamen aynı siyah bir köpek hakkında.
Hikâyeye “a” veya “an” ile başlayacağız, bunun ardından eğer aynı köpekten tekrar tekrar bahsediyorsanız “the” kullanırsınız.
If you’re talking about the same noun again and again and again, for example, maybe you’re telling a story and the story is all about a black dog. It’s the same black dog for the whole story. We will start with a or an, and then after, if you talk about the same dog again and again we use the, the, the, the ,the ,the, the.

Yani örneğin, genel bir köpek ile başlarız. “I saw this dog, Did you see the dog? (Ben bu köpeği gördüm. Sen köpeği gördün mü?). Hayır, sen köpeği görmedin. Ben sana gördüğüm bir köpekten bahsediyorum. Belki bu köpek benim için spesifik ama köpek senin için spefisik değil. Bu yüzden seninle konuşurken genel olmam gerekir.
So, for example, so we begin with a general dog. I saw this dog, but did you see the dog?No, you didn’t see the dog. I’m telling you about a dog I saw. So maybe the dog is specific for me, but the dog is not specific for you. So I need to be general for you.

“I saw a dog today (Bugün bir köpek gördüm) .”ve şimdi aynı köpek, doğru mu, bu köpek ve diğer köpek aynı köpek o yüzden “the” kullanacağım. “The dog was black (Köpek siyahtı).”Yine aynı köpek, aynı köpek aynı köpek.Yine aynı köpek olduğu için “the” kullanırım. Fakat birden farklı bir köpek çıkarsa“I saw a bigger dog (Daha büyük bir köpek gördüm).”
I saw a dog today. And now it’s the same dog, right, this dog and this dog is the same dog so I want to use the. The dog was black. Now again, same dog, same dog, same dog. OK I continue to use the, the, the, the, the. But maybe suddenly there’s a new dog. Then I saw bigger dog.

Şimdi farklı bir köpek ve farklı bir konuya geçtik.Bundan dolayı yine genel ifade ile başlarız.“ A bigger dog (Daha büyük bir köpek).” Yani yeniden daha karmaşık hale geliyor.
So now we have a different dog and we have a different topic. So we start again with general. A bigger dog. So again, it becomes more complicated.

Dördüncü kuralımız.
For our fourth rule.

Sıfatların üstünlük (superlatives) hakkında konuşacağız.Üstünlük sıfatlarıyla birlikte sadece “the” kullanacağız.Asla “a” veya “an” kullanmayız.
We’ll talk about superlatives. With superlatives, we’re only going to use the. We never use a or an.

Üstünlük sıfatlarıyla – belki bilmiyorsunuzdur – dünyadaki, belki Türkiye’deki ya da bu odadaki en büyük, en uzun olan şeylerden bahsederiz. Bu tip dilbilgisi ile her zaman “the” kullanacağız, superlative grammer.
Superlatives, maybe you don’t know, is when you’re talking about the biggest, the tallest, in the world, or maybe in Turkey, or maybe in this room. So we’re always going to use the with this type of grammar, superlative grammar.

Şimdi bunu birazcık değiştireceğim ve sadece tekil isimlerden değil çoğul isimlerden bahsedeceğim ve tekrardan bu konu tekrar karmaşık hale geliyor. Öyleyse şimdi genel çoğul isimler ile spesifik çoğul isimleri arasındaki farka değinelim. Genel çoğul isimlerle, her hangi bir artikel /tanımlık kullanmayız. Hiçbir şey kullanmayız. Fakat spesifik çoğul isimlerle, yalnızca “the” kullanırız. Hiçbir çoğul isimle, “a” veya “an” kullanmayız.
Now I’m going to change it a little bit and we’re going to talk about, not singular nouns, we’re going to talk about plural nouns, and again, things become more complicated. So now let’s talk about the difference between general plural nouns and specific plural nouns. With general plural nouns we don’t use any article. We use nothing. But, with specific plural nouns we will only use the. We don’t use a and an with any plural nouns.

Örneğin:
For example:

Genel çoğul isimler ise spesifik çoğul isimler arasındaki farka değinelim.
Let’s talk about the difference between a general plural noun and a specific plural noun.

Mesela, “I like dogs (Köpekleri severim).” Hangi köpekler? O köpekler burada mı? O köpekler dışarıda mı? Onlara bu köpeklerden veya şu köpeklerden bahsettiniz mi? Hayır, çok genel oluyor. Tüm köpekleri seviyorsunuz, herhangi birini.Fakat cümleyi değiştirebilirim.“Dışarıdaki köpekler havlıyor.” (Dogs outside are barking.)Tüm köpekler mi? Dünyadaki dışarıda olan tüm köpekler mi havlıyor? Hayır. Belki dışarıdaki birkaç köpekten bahsediyorsunuz ve dolayısıyla, şöyle diyebilirim: “The dogs outside are barking (Dışarıdaki köpekler havlıyor).”
For example, I like dogs. Which dogs? Are the dogs here? Are the dogs outside? Did you tell them these dogs or those dogs? No, being very general. You like all dogs, any dogs. But, I can change the sentence. Dogs outside are barking. Is it all dogs? All dogs in the world outside are barking? No. Maybe there’s only two or three dogs that you were talking about outside So I can use the dogs outside are barking.

Bir sonraki kuralımıza geçelim.
Let’s move on to our next rule.

Altı numaralı kural.
Rule number six.

Altı numaralı kuralda tekil veya çoğul isimlerden bahsetmiyoruz. Şimdi sayılamayan isimler ile ilgili konuşacağız.
For rule number six, we’re not talking about singular or plural nouns. Now we’re going to talk about uncountable nouns.

Öyleyse sayılamayan isimlerin birkaç örneği nelerdir?
So what are examples of some uncountable nouns?

Süt sayılamayan isim örneğimiz. Cümlemiz : “I love milk (sütü severim).” Hangi süt? Bilmiyoruz.Tüm sütler, belki bir bardak süt, belki de bir şişe süt. Ama bundan bahsetmiyoruz. Yalnızca sütten bahsediyoruz. Yani çok genel. Hiçbir artikel/tanımlık kullanmak istemeyiz. Fakat başka bir cümleye alırsam, burada dünyadaki bütün sütleri mi kastediyorum? Yoksa bardağın içindeki sütten mi bahsediyorum? “The warm milk (Ilık süt).” Burada belirli bir sütten bahsediyorum. Dünyadaki tüm sütten bahsetmiyorum. O yüzden “The milk in the glass is warm” (Bardaktaki ılık olan süt.) şeklinde kullanıyorum.
So milk is our uncountable noun. The sentence is I love milk. Which milk? We don’t know. All milk, ah, you cannot count this, maybe a glass of milk, maybe a bottle of milk. But we’re not talking about that. We’re talking about only milk. So it’s very general. We don’t want to use any article. But if I take another sentence, here am I talking about all of the milk in the world? Or am I talking about only the milk in the glass? The warm milk. Here I have a very specific milk that I’m talking about. I’m not talking about all the milk in the world. So I’ll use the milk in the glass is warm.

Son olarak, farklı bir tip kuraldan daha bahsedelim.
Finally, let’s talk about one more type of rule.

Özel isimler.
Proper nouns.

İki tür özel ismimiz vardır. “The” kullanılan özel isimler ve “article” almayan özel isimler.
So we have two different kinds of proper nouns. Proper nouns that don’t use an article and proper nouns that use the.

Örneğin, “Galata Kulesi’ne gideceğim” (I’m going to Galata Tower?) mi deriz? Yoksa “The Galata Kulesi’ne gideceğim” (I’m going to the Galata Tower? ) mi deriz?“the” ile söyleriz. Yani kuleler için her zaman “the” kullanırız. The Eiffel Tower, The Galata Tower. Neden? Bir kuralı yok. Dolayısıyla “the” kullandığımız veya kullanmadığınız durumları ezberlemeniz ve unutmamanız gerekmektedir.
For example, do we say I’m going to Galata Tower? Or I’m going to the Galata Tower? We use it with the. So for towers, we always use the. The Eiffel Tower, the Galata Tower. Why?There’s no rules. So unfortunately, you have to memorise and you have to remember if you use the or if you don’t use anything.

Diğer bir örnek ülkelerle ilgilidir. “I am from the America” mı deriz? Yoksa I am from America” mı deriz?Genel olarak “I am from America” deriz. Bu, o ülkenin resmi olmayan ismi. Fakat “I am from the United States of America” diyebilirim. Türkiye için de aynı. “I am from Turkey” veya “I am from the Republic of Turkey” diyebilirim. Resmi ülke adlarıyla “the” kullanırız.
So, another example would be for countries. Do I say I am from the America? Or I’m from America? Typically, I would say I am from America. It’s a country’s unofficial name. But I can say I am from the United States of America. Same for Turkey.I am from Turkey or I am from the Republic of Turkey. So, for official country names, we use the.

Peki, okyanus, göl ve akarsular? Okyanuslar için tipik olarak “the” kullanacaksınız.Denizler için yine ”the” kullanırız. Akarsular için yine ”the”.Fakat maalesef göller için hiçbir şey.
What about oceans, lakes and rivers? For oceans, typically you’re going to use the. For seas, again, we use the. For rivers, again, the. But unfortunately, for lakes, nothing.

Dolayısıyla tekrar, proper noun lar ile ilgili kural çok zordur, maalesef sadece ezberlemeniz gerekir. Genel olarak artikel/tanımlık karmaşık bir konudur bu yüzden de pratik yapmaya devam etmelisiniz. ve yeniden Speak English® video dersleri dizisini izlediğiniz için tekrar çok teşekkür ederim. Adım Cari ve izlediğiniz için teşekkürler.
So again, this is a very difficult rule with proper nouns where, unfortunately, you just have to memorise it. And articles are very complicated in general, so keep practising them. And again thank you so much for watching this Speak English® video lesson series. My name is Cari and I thank you for watching.

İngilizce Be Able To, Be Supposed To, Be Allowed To Video Konu Anlatımı

İngilizce Be Able To , Be Supposed To , Be Allowed To Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to the Speak English online video lessons. My name is Cari. I’ll be your teacher today and our topic will be three modals.
Speak English® online video derslerine hoş geldiniz. Benim adım Cari. Bugünkü öğretmeninizim ve konumuz İngilizce’de üç kip (modal).

Our first modal is… our second modal… and finally… be allowed to,  be supposed to and be able to.
İlk kipimiz… İkinci kip… ve sonuncusu…. İngilizce’de Yapabilmek (be able to), İngilizce’de Yapmasına izin verilmek (be allowed to), İngilizce’de Yapması beklenmek (be supposed to).

So first, I would like to start with be able to.
İlk olarak, İngilizce’de “be able to” ile başlamak isterim.

The easier modal for be able to is can, and the negative, can’t.
İngilizce’de “be able to” kipinin daha kolay hali “can”dir, olumsuz hali “can’t”dir.

So I’ll begin with an example.
Öyleyse bir örnek ile başlayacağım.

All right, our friend Bob… has five fingers, hopefully, OK, our friend Bob has a problem. He has a lot of problems but, ah, the major problem is, unfortunately, Bob has no nose.
Peki, arkadaşımız Bob beş parmağa sahip, umarım öyledir ve arkadaşımız Bob’un bir problemi var. Aslında birçok problemi var ama esas problem şu ki Bob’un burnu yok.

So, he, if we can make a sentence with can and can’t, Bob can’t breathe. Maybe you were thinking Bob can’t smell. Very sad.
Eğer bu İngilizce cümleyi “can” ve “can’t” ile yaparsak: Bob can’t breathe (Bob nefes alamıyor). Belki de Bob’un koklayamadığını da düşünmüşsünüzdür. Çok üzücü.

Ah, maybe now, I take away /Bob’s arms. Now, Bob can’t do many things, ah, for example, Bob can’t write. Bob can’t play basketball. Very sad, many problems.
Şimdi Bob’un kollarını çıkaralım. Artık Bob pek çok şeyi yapamıyor, mesela yazı yazamaz. Bob basketbol oynayamaz.Çok üzücü, pek çok problemi var.

Now, maybe I take Bob’s eyes. Bob can’t see. I take Bob’s… and now Bob can’t eat. It’s all very sad. Now finally, Bob died.
Şimdi Bob’un gözlerini silelim. Bob göremez.Bob’un ….’sını çıkaracağım, artık yemek yiyemiyor. Tamamen çok üzücü. Sonunda, Bob öldü.

So if we can take this easy modal, can and can’t, now we have the same modal, same meaning,
Eğer bu kolay kip İngilizce’de “can ve can’t” e bakarsak, aynı kip ve aynı anlam bulunur.

But can, can’t would be informal and be able to would be more formal, but it’s the same meaning.
İngilizce’de “can” ve “can’t” resmi değildir “be able to” daha resmidir, fakat anlamı aynıdır.

So we can easily change these sentences from can, can’t to be able to.So you can see we’re using be, am, is, are.
Öyleyse bu cümleleri kolayca “can” ve “can’t”tan “be able to”ya çevirebiliriz. Gördüğünüz gibi, “am”, “is”, “are”ı kullanıyoruz.

So, for example, he has no nose, OK.We understand that.
Örneğin, onun burnu yok (he has no nose), tamam mı? Bunu anlıyoruz.

So Bob am, is, are, is, negative, not able to breathe or smell. Same here, he is able to write, and negative, he isn’t able to write. So very easily, we can change these sentences from informal to formal.
Bob am, is, are, olumsuz, “not be able to” breathe or smell. Aynısı burada İngilizce’de “He is able to write (o yazabilir)” ve olumsuzu İngilizce’de “he isn’t able to write (o yazamaz)”. Çok kolay bir şekilde bu İngilizce cümleleri resmi olmayan durumdan resmi duruma çevirebiliriz.

Now, for example, all right, here we have Bob again. No problems. Bob has no problems.
Şimdi, örnek olarak tekrar Bob var.Problem yok.Bob’un hiç problemi yok.

Bob has a Efes, OK, so, he is drinking alcohol. He is forty years old.All right, this is no problem.
Bob’un bir Efes’i var , alkol içiyor. O 40 yaşında.Tamam, bunda bir sorun yok.

He is able to drink alcohol and our new modal, if you remember, be allowed to. He’s forty years old, so, in the law in Turkey, Bob, he is also allowed to drink alcohol. He’s forty years old, the police say it’s OK for Bob to drink alcohol. His mother says it’s OK for Bob to drink alcohol.
O alkol içebilir ve eğer hatırlıyorsanız şimdiki kip (modal) “be allowed to”O 40 yaşında, yani Türkiye’de kanunlara göre Bob’un alkol içmesine izin verilir. O 40 yaşında ve polis onun alkol içebileceğini söylüyor.Annesi onun alkol içmesine izin verir.

Now if I change Bob to fourteen years old, what happens?
Şimdi eğer Bob’un yaşını 14 olarak değiştirirsem, ne olur?

He is able to drink alcohol, because he has hands, he has a mouth, so he can physically drink alcohol, but, he isn’t allowed to drink alcohol because now Bob is fourteen years old.
Elleri ve ağzı olduğu için alkol içebilir (he is able to drink alcohol), fiziksel açıdan alkol içebilir ancak alkol almasına izin verilmez çünkü o şu an 14 yaşında.

Bob’s mother says he cannot drink alcohol. The police say Bob cannot drink alcohol.
Bob’un annesi o alkol içemez der.Polis, Bob’un alkol içemeyeceğini söyler.

Let’s look at another example.
Haydi başka bir örneğe bakalım.

Bob is at home and Bob is playing with his playstation. OK, not a very good artist.
Bob evde ve Playstation’ı ile oynuyor. Hiç iyi bir ressam değilim bu arada.

So Bob is fourteen years old. He’s at home. He’s playing with his playstation and let’s say it is 14.00. So it’s 2 o’clock in the afternoon and Bob’s mother says it’s OK, you can play the playstation right now.So, he is allowed to play playstation at 14.00. His mother says it’s OK. His father says it’s OK.
Yani Bob 14 yaşında. Evde.Playstation’ı ile oyunuyor ve haydi diyelim ki saat 14.00 Yani öğleden sonra 2 ve Bob’un annesi ona oyun oynayabileceğini söylüyor. Onun saat 14:00’de Playstation ile oynamasına izin veriliyor. Annesi tamam diyor. Babası tamam diyor.

But, let’s change the time to 22.00. Now, its very late at night and he should be asleep. So now his mother says no, you cannot play playstationIt’s very late at night.
Fakat saati 22.00 olarak değiştirirsek. Artık gece çok geç bir vakit oldu ve uyuması gerekiyor. Bu yüzden annesi ona hayır playstation oynayamazsın diyor. Gece geç saat.

So, he isn’t allowed to play playstation, unfortunately.
Maalesef, Playstation ile oynamasına izin verilmiyor İngilizce’de (He isn’t allowed to play playstation)

Let’s do one more example.
Başka bir İngilizce cümle örneği yapalım.

All right, Bob has a gun. All right, he is, let’s say, eighteen years old and he isn’t allowed (and) to kill anyone. Right, this is, the police say you cannot kill anyone.
Tamamdır, Bob’un bir silahı var. Diyelim ki o 18 yaşında ve onun kimseyi öldürmesine izin verilmiyor. Evet, polis kimseyi öldüremezssin diyor.

But let’s say Bob’s friend is very angry, and Bob’s friend also has a gun and Bob’s friend wants to kill Bob, so now he is allowed to kill his friend because his friend wants to kill Bob.So now the law is different. Now everything changes.
Fakat şöyle diyelim, Bob’un arkadaşı çok öfkeli ve onun da bir silahı var ve Bob’u öldürmek istiyor bu durumda Bob’un arkadaşını öldürmesine izin verilir çünkü arkadaşı Bob’u öldürmek istiyorYani, kanun farklı. Şimdi herşey değişir.

So, just remember that is and -ed is important.
İngilizce cümlelerde is” ve “-ed” in önemli olduğunu unutmayın.

What happens if we change it to I we change this to am and if we change it to we becomes are. So technically, this is a passive modal because of the -ed/, so always remember to do -ed as well.
Eğer onu İngilizce’sinde “I” ile değiştirirsek ne olur, bunu İngilizce’sinde “am” olarak değiştiririz ve eğer İngilizce’sinde “we” olarak değiştirirsek, onu İngilizce’sinde “are” olarak değiştiririz.“-ed” den dolayı teknik açıdan bu bir İngilizce edilgen çatılı bir kiptir ve her zaman “-ed” i kullanmayı unutmayın.

So we have one more modal to talk about today and that is be supposed to.
Bugün İngilizce’de bahsedeceğimiz bir kip daha var ve bu “be supposed to (olması beklenen)”.
But before we talk about be supposed to, let’s look one more time at be allowed to.
İngilizce’de “be supposed to” dan bahsetmeden önce,  İngilizce’de “be allowed to”ya bir kez daha bakalım.

So I have some examples of some laws from different countries around the world, and these are actually some very crazy laws. They’re crazy, but true.
Dünyanın farklı ülkelerinden bazı kanun örnekleri var ve bunların bazıları aslında gerçekten çılgınca kurallar. Çılgıncalar ama gerçek.

So I will read one of these laws to you and then you can guess which country do you think has this law.
Bu kurallardan bir tanesini size okuyacağım ve sonra siz hangi ülkenin bu kanuna sahip olduğunu tahmin edin.

So our first one, for example, in which country, OK, /are you not allowed to jump off a building? And we’ll put our preposition here, in which country are you not allowed to jump off a building?
İlk örnek, hangi ülkede sizin bir binadan atlamanıza izin verilmez?İngilizce’de Preposition’u buraya koyarız: “In which country are you not allowed to jump off building? (Hangi ülkede bir binadan atlamanıza izin verilmez?)”.

So I’ll let you think about the answer… this one the answer is America, specifically New York. I think it’s crazy because if you jump off a building, you will probably die but I guess this is a law that became necessary in New York.
Cevap için düşünmenize müsaade edeceğim…Bu ülke Amerika, tam olarak New York şehri.Bence bu çılgınca çünkü eğer bir binadan atlarsanız ölürsünüz fakat bu kurala New York’ta gerek duyulduğunu tahmin ediyorum.

How about another one, for example, in which country is it illegal for a taxi to carry wild dogs and dead people? So in which country is it not allowed for a taxi to carry wild dogs and dead people? The answer is France.Unfortunately, this is not allowed in France.
Başka bir taneye ne dersiniz? Mesela, hangi ülkede bir taksinin vahşi köpek ve ölü insan taşıması yasa dışıdır? Yani hangi ülkede taksinin vahşi köpek ve ölü insan taşımasına izin verilmez?Cevap Fransa.Ne yazık ki Fransa’da buna izin verilmiyor.

A couple more… in which country are you not allowed to leave your house with no underwear? This is not allowed in Thailand, I’m sorry.
İki örnek daha…Hangi ülkede iç çamaşırsız olarak evinizden çıkmanıza izin verilmez? Buna Tayland’da izin verilmez, üzgünüm.

And finally, in which country is it not allowed to get on the internet? And in this country, if you get on the internet, you can go to prison. And this country would be Burma. In Burma, you are not allowed to get on the internet.
Son olarak, hangi ülkede internete girmeye izin verilmez? Bu ülkede eğer internete girerseniz hapse gidebilirsiniz. Bu ülke Burma. Burma’da internete girmenize izin verilmez.

So finally, let’s look at be supposed to. Again it’s a modal and it’s very similar grammar, but this one the meaning is very different. This one is similar to expect.
Son olarak, İngilizce’de “be supposed to”ya bakalım. Bu da İngilizce bir kiptir ve dilbilgisi yapısı çok benzerdir, fakat anlamı farklıdır. Bu İngilizce beklemek (expect) eylemine benzer.

What do people expect from you? For example, in Turkey, if you go to a wedding in Turkey, what are you supposed to bring?
İnsanlar sizden ne bekler? Mesela, Türkiye’de bir düğüne giderseniz, ne götürmeniz beklenir?

So think about if you go to a wedding in Turkey, I know the first thing I learned is that you are supposed to bring gold. Especially if I really like this person and if they’re important to me, I am supposed to bring them gold in Turkey.
Türkiye’de bir düğüne gittiğinizi düşünün, yapmanız beklenen ilk şeyin altın götürmek olduğunu biliyorum. (You are supposed to bring gold)Özellikle eğer o kişi seviyorsam ve eğer onlar benim için önemliyse, benim onlara altın götürmem beklenir.

Ah, but what about other countries, though?
Peki diğer ülkelerde durum nasıl?

For example;
Örneğin;

We’ll do a yes/no question, are you supposed to bring gold in America? In America, no, you are not, right, you are not supposed to bring gold in America, to a wedding.
Evet/hayır sorusu, Amerika’da altın getirmeniz beklenir mi? Amerika’da hayır, sizden beklenmez, Amerika’da bir düğüne altın getirmeniz beklenmez.

In other countries, there is very different wedding traditions.
Başka ülkelerde çok değişik düğün adetleri vardır.

Ah, for example, in which country are you supposed to paint the bride all white? The woman, she wears all white and they paint her face white. In which country? In Japan you are supposed to paint the bride all white.A very interesting tradition.
Mesela hangi ülkede gelinin tamamen beyaza boyamanız beklenir? Gelin tamamen beyaz giyer ve yüzünü beyaza boyarlar. Hangi ülkede? Japonya’da gelini tamamen beyaza boyamanız beklenir. (In Japan you are supposed to paint the bride all white.)Bu, çok ilginç bir gelenektir.

And many countries will have their interesting traditions also
Ayrıca pek çok ülkenin de ilginç gelenekleri vardır.

So let’s look at our friend Bob again.
Tekrar arkadaşımız Bob’a bakalım.

Let’s say that Bob is in China and he’s at a, a dinner party for business, maybe it’s a work dinner party.
Varsayalım ki Bob Çin’de ve iş amaçlı bir akşam yemeği eğlencesinde şu an, belki de bir iş yemeğinde.

So, in China, can he, can he drink alcohol at a dinner party in China? So yes, he can, and he is able to drink alcohol because he has arms, he has a mouth, so he is able to drink alcohol at a business party in China. Is he allowed to?He is allowed to drink alcohol.
O Çin’de bir akşam yemeği eğlencesinde alkol içebilir mi? Evet içebilir, alkol içebilir çünkü eli ve ağzı var, dolayısıyla Çin’de bir iş eğlencesinde alkol içebilir. Peki, onun alkol içmesine izin verilir mi? Evet alkol içmesine izin verilir.

It’s OK in China and the law says it’s OK, and is he supposed to drink alcohol in China at a dinner party for business? In China, yes, if you are at a business dinner in China you are supposed to drink alcohol. They want you to drink alcohol at a dinner party.
Çin’de buna izin verilir ve kanunlara göre yasaldır, peki Çin’de onun iş yemeğinde alkol içmesi beklenir mi? Evet, eğer Çin’de bir iş yemeğindeyseniz alkol içmeniz beklenir. Bir iş yemeğinde alkol içmenizi isterler.

But, if I change the country to, for example, America, what should we change?
Eğer ülkeyi Amerika olarak değiştirirsem, neyi değiştirmem gerekir?

For example,
Mesela,

He is able to drink , this is the thing, in America, of course, you are able to drink. Is he allowed to drink? Of course, he is allowed to drink, but is he supposed to drink alcohol at a dinner party for business in America? No, we have to change this.Because the culture is different. So he’s not supposed to drink alcohol at a dinner party in America for business.
“O alkol içebilir”, bu Amerika’daki durumdur; Amerika’da tabi ki içki içebilirsiniz. Onun içki içmesine izin verilir mi? Elbette içmesine izin verilir, peki, Amerika’da bir iş yemeğinde içki içmesi beklenir mi? Hayır, bunu değiştirmemiz gerekir.Çünkü kültür farklı.Yani Amerika’da bir iş eğlencesinde alkol içmesi beklenmez.

So I’m sure in Turkey we have many, many traditions also.
Eminim ki Türkiye’de de pek çok gelenek vardır.

Ah, for example, if you are at a party in Turkey you are supposed to bring possibly dessert or some food and what do you do when you open the door and you come into the house?
Mesela, eğer Türkiye’de bir partideyseniz, tatlı veya biraz yiyecek getirmeniz beklenir ve kapıyı açtığınızda ve eve girdiğinizde ne yaparsınız?

You are supposed to, first you take off your shoes. So these are very important traditions and every culture will have these traditions.
İlk olarak ayakkabınızı çıkarmanız beklenir. Bunlar çok önemli geleneklerdir ve her ülkede bunlar olacaktır.

In America, when you come to a dinner party you are not supposed to take off your shoes.
Amerika’da bir partiye geldiğinizde ayakkabılarınızı çıkarmanız beklenmez.

So again, very interesting cultures, all around the world.
Dünyanın her yerinde çok ilginç gelenekler var.

So today we have looked at three modals.
Öyleyse özetle, bugün İngilizce üç kipi inceledik.

We have looked at able to, allowed to and supposed to. And again if we look at the infinitive we use be able to, be allowed to and be supposed to.
İngilizce’de “be able to”, “be allowed to”, “be supposed to” konularına baktık.ve İngilizce’de “be supposed to” , ” be allowed to” ve ” be able to” kiplerinin yalın kullanımlarını inceledik.

Of course you will change this depending on I, you, he, she, it, we and they.
Elbette ki bunları İngilizce I, you, he, she, it, we ve they’e  göre değiştireceksiniz.

So thank you very much again for joining me today in the Speak English® online video series and I hope you have enjoyed the lesson.
Bugün Speak English® online İngilizce video dizisinde bana katıldığınız için çok teşekkür ederim ve derste eğlendiğinizi umarım.

İngilizce CV Hazırlama Teknikleri Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to Speak English® online video lessons. My name is Lynne and today I’ll be talking about résumé and  curriculum vitae preparation.
Speak English® online İngilizce video derslerine hoş geldiniz.Adım Lynne ve bugün İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş ve ayrıntılı özgeçmiş (İngilizce CV) hazırlamaktan bahsediyor olacağım.

First we start with a cover letter.
İlk olarak, İngilizce cover letter ile başlarız.

Whether you submit a curriculum vitae or a résumé in application for a position, you will need to  prepare a cover letter.
Herhangi bir pozisyon için iş başvurunuzda ister İngilizce CV, ister İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş (résumé) gönderin, İngilizce bir cover letter hazırlamanız gerekecektir.

What is a cover letter?
İngilizce cover letter nedir?

A cover letter is a formal letter that accompanies your résumé or curriculum vitae.Use it to introduce yourself to potential employers, and to convince them that you’re the right person for the job.
Cover letter, kısa veya ayrıntılı İngilizce özgeçmişinize eşlik eden resmi bir dokümandır.Bunu, potansiyel işverenlere kendinizi tanıtmak ve iş için aranan doğru kişi olduğunuza ikna etmek için kullanın.

Your cover letter doesn’t simply re-state your résumé or CV, it offers some new information, and it highlights the skills you have that are relevant to the job you’re applying for.
İngilizce cover letter, sadece ana hatlarıyla basitçe İngilizce CV / özgeçmişinizi yeniden sunmaz; bazı yeni bilgiler verir, başvurduğunuz iş ile alakalı yeteneklerinizi öne çıkarır.

In writing a cover letter, it’s important to take time to write a specific cover letter for each employer.Customize each cover letter you write, so it relates your skills to the job.
İngilizce bir cover letter yazarken her bir işverene yönelik ayrı bir spesifik iş başvuru yazısı yazmak önemlidir.Yazdığınız her İngilizce cover letter’i yeteneklerinizi başvurduğunuz işle ilişkilendirebilmesi için uyarlayın.

Indicate why you are writing, explaining your interest in the position.State where you learned about the position and indicate the title of the position you are applying for. I think that’s very important.
Neden yazdığınızı belirtin, pozisyona olan ilginizi açıklayın.Başvurduğunuz pozisyon hakkında nereden bilgi aldığınızı ve pozisyon ünvanını belirtin.Bunun çok önemli olduğunu düşünüyorum.

It would not be appropriate to say that you are applying for any vacancy with the company but you want to state the specific position and then relate then your work experience to that position.
Şirkette herhangi boş bir pozisyona başvurduğunuzu söylemek uygun değildir, bunun yerine spesifik bir pozisyonu belirtip tecrübelerinizi onunla ilişkilendirin.

Explain the reasons for your interest in the organization.Express your enthusiasm for the job.Identify your most relevant skills and experiences.Include the skills that most match the job.
Başvurduğunuz kurumla ilgilenme sebebinizi açıklayın.İşe istekli olduğunuzu ifade edin.O işe en uygun yetenek ve deneyimlerinizi tanımlayın.İşle en çok uyuşan yeteneklerinizi ekleyin.

Communicate your interest, motivation, and your strengths and emphasize your achievements.
İlginizin, motivasyonunuzun, güçlü yanlarınızın ve başarılarınızın üzerinde durun.

Indicate how you will follow-up, typically with a phone call or an email and always thank the company for their consideration.
İngilizce iş başvurunuzu nasıl takip edeceğinizi belirtin, tipik olarak telefon görüşmesi veya e-mail yoluyladır ve her zaman ilgileri nedeniyle firmaya teşekkür edin.

It’s important to avoid meaningless or wordy expressions.Your cover letter should complement, not duplicate your résumé or CV.
Anlamsız ya da laf kalabalığı yapan İngilizce ifadelerden uzak durmak önemlidir.İngilizce cover letter tamamlayıcı olmalıdır, İngilizce CV veya İngilizce kısa özgeçmişinizi kopyalamamalıdır.

And the cover letter is often the first contact with an employer, so make sure it creates a positive first impression.Again you need to double-check spelling, punctuation, grammar, all are very important.
İngilizce cover letter sıklıkla işveren ile ilk temasınız olduğu için, iyi bir ilk izlenim oluşturduğundan emin olun.Tekrar İngilizce imla, noktalama işaretleri, dilbilgisi kurallarını çifte kontrol etmeniz gerekir, bunlar çok önemlidir.

Now a sample cover letter.
Şimdi örnek bir İngilizce cover letter.

Dear Mr … ah, here you say Mr or Ms, I am writing to apply for the programmer position advertised in the Times Union.
“Sayın Bay…”, bu kısımda Bay ya da Bayan ifadelerini kullanın, “Times Union’da duyurulan programcı pozisyonuna başvurmaktayım.

As requested, I am enclosing a completed job application, my certification, my résumé and three references.
İstendiği üzere, tamamlanmış iş başvurum, sertifikam, İngilizce kısa özgeçmişim ve üç referans eklemekteyim.

The opportunity presented in this listing is very interesting, and I believe that my strong technical experience and education will make me a very competitive candidate for this position.
Listelenen ilanda sunulan fırsat oldukça ilgi çekici, sağlam teknik tecrübem ve eğitimimin bu pozisyon için beni oldukça iyi bir aday yapacağına inanıyorum.

So there, a very good example of something, ah, that they’ve completed, an accomplishment.
İşte burada tamamladıkları, başardıkları bir şeyin çok iyi bir örneği var.

I strive for continued excellence. And I provide exceptional contributions to customer service and all customers.
Sürekli bir mükemmellik için çaba gösteririm.Müşteri hizmetlerine ve tüm müşterilere olağanüstü katkı sağlarım.

Let’s look at the rest of the cover letter.
Şimdi İngilizce iş başvuru yazısının diğer bölümleri üzerinde duralım.

With a BS degree in Computer Programming, I have a full understanding of the full life cycle of a software development project.I also have experience in learning and excelling at new technologies as needed.
Bilgisayar Programcılığı Lisans Diplomam ile yazılım geliştirme projelerinin tüm yaşam döngüsüne tam anlamıyla hakimim.Buna ek olarak, geretiktiği gibi yeni teknolojileri öğrenmede ve ilerleme konusunda tecrübeliyim.

Please see my résumé for additional information on my experience.I can be reached anytime via email at john.donaldson@gmail.com or my cell phone, 905-555-5555.
Deneyimlerimle ilgili daha fazla bilgi için lütfen İngilizce kısa özgeçmişimi inceleyiniz.Herhangi bir zamanda john.donaldson@gmail.com e-mail adresinden veya cep telefonumdan 905-555-5555 bana ulaşabilirsiniz.

Thank you for your time and consideration.I look forward to speaking with you about this employment opportunity.Sincerely, John Donaldson.
Vakit ayırdığınız ve ilginiz için teşekkür ederim.Bu iş fırsatı hakkında sizinle görüşmeyi sabırsızlıkla bekliyorum.Saygılarımla, John Donaldson.

Now you can see from this example that he covers all those specific points.
Bu örnekte görebileceğiniz gibi tüm spesifik noktaları belirttiğini görebilirsiniz.

He doesn’t restate his résumé or CV, but gives additional information that hopefully will make the person screening this application want to read his résumé or CV.
İngilizce özgeçmişini veya İngilizce CV’sini tekrar etmiyor, fakat onun İngilizce iş başvurusunu inceleyen kişinin özgeçmişini veya İngilizce CV’sini okumasını sağlayacak ilave bilgiler veriyor.

Now whether we look at a curriculum vitae or a résumé, what’s the difference? The primary differences are the length and the content and purpose.
Şimdi İngilizce résumé veya İngilizce CV ye baktığımızda fark nedir?Temel farklılıklar uzunluk, içerik ve amaçlardır.

A résumé is a one or two page summary of your skills, experience and education.A goal of résumé writing is to be brief and concise since, at best, the résumé reader will spend a minute or so reviewing your qualifications.
Résumé (İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş), yeteneklerinizin, deneyimlerinizin ve eğitim durumunuzun bir veya iki sayfalık özetidir.Résumé (İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş) yazmanın hedefi kısa ve öz olmaktır, en iyisi; okuyan kişinin bir-iki dakika harcayarak niteliklerinizi gözden geçirebilmesidir.

So it should never be a long, lengthy document.A résumé is short and to the point.
Öyleyse asla uzun uzadıya bir yazı olmamalıdır.Résumé (İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş), kısa ve direkt amaca yöneliktir.

On the other hand, a curriculum vitae, called, commonly called  a CV, is a longer, two or more pages, more detailed summary.
Diğer taraftan, sıkça İngilizce CV olarak adlandırılan ayrıntılı özgeçmiş, iki ya da daha fazla sayfadan oluşan daha uzun, daha ayrıntılı bir özettir.

A CV will include a review of your educational and academic background as well as teaching, research experience, publications, presentations, awards, honors, affiliations and other details.
Bir İngilizce CV örneğinde; öğretim, araştırma deneyimi, yayınlar, sunumlar, ödüller, bağlı bulunduğu kuruluşlar ve diğer ayrıntıların yanı sıra eğitim ve akademik özgeçmiş bilgileri bulunur.

We use a CV primarily when applying for international, academic, education, scientific or research positions or when applying for fellowships or grants. You may need different versions of a CV for different types of positions.
Esasen İngilizce CV’yi uluslar arası, akademik, eğitim, bilim veya araştırma pozisyonlarına başvururken ya da üniversite bursu veya ödenekler için başvururken kullanırız.Farklı tür pozisyonlar için değişik tip İngilizce CV örneklerine ihtiyaç duyabilirsiniz.

Let’s look at preparing a résumé and the important information that you should include.
İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş hazırlamak ve eklemeniz gereken önemli bilgiler konusuna bakalım.

Your personal information.
İngilizce kişisel bilgileriniz.

The first thing your employer should see when looking at your résumé is, of course, your name. You should use a font that’s easy to read.Make sure it is clear, stands out, and easy to read.
İşverenin İngilizce özgeçmiş örneğinizi incelerken ilk görmesi gereken şey isminizdir. Okuması kolay bir yazı tipi kullanmalısın.Net, seçilir ve okumasının kolay olduğuna emin olun.

Include your full address, contact phone numbers, and an appropriate e-mail address. And by this we mean something your first name, your last name, but not funny things.Fluffy butterfly or anything like that that’s silly would be completely inappropriate for a professional resume.
Tam adresiniz, irtibat numaranız ve uygun bir e-mail adresi bilgilerini ekleyin. Bundan, adınız, soyadını vb kast etmekteyiz, komik ifadeler değil. Pofuduk kelebek vb saçma ifadeler profesyonel özgeçmiş için uygun değildir.

Your education.
Eğitim durumunuz.

List your education, starting with the most recent, and work backwards from there. This is what we call reverse chronological order.
Eğitim bilgilerinizi en yakın zamandakinden başlayarak geriye doğru sıralayın. Buna ters kronolojik sıralama denir.

Include the name of the university, the city or town where the school you attended is located, for secondary and beyond, and the years that you completed.
Mezun olduğunuz üniversitenin adı, bulunduğu şehir, ikincil olarak ve devamında, mezuniyet yılını belirtin.

Be sure to list any certificates or diplomas you received, including those for mini-courses like computer or software courses,  or any other training that might be useful in the job you are applying for.
Katıldığınız mini kurslar örneğin bilgisayar kursu dahil olmak üzere aldığınız sertifika ve diplomaları eklediğinizden emin olun veya başvurmakta olduğunuz pozisyon için faydalı olabilecek herhangi başka bir eğitimi ekleyin.

Skills and experience.
Yetenek ve tecrübe.

Use your résumé to show where you worked, what you learned, and how your skills and experience relate to the job for which you are applying for.Highlight abilities, skills, and experience that relate to the job.
İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş örneğinizde daha önce nerede çalıştığınızı, neler öğrendiğinizi, yeteneklerinizin başvurmakta olduğunuz işle nasıl ilişkili olduğunu gösterin. İş ile alakalı beceri, yetenek ve tecrübelerinizi vurgulayın.

If all of your experience is in an unrelated field to the job that you’re applying for, focus on transferable skills that you learned.
Eğer tüm yetenek ve tecrübeleriniz başvurmakta olduğunuz işle bağlantısı olmayan alanlara ait ise, bu işe aktarabileceğiniz edinmiş olduğunuz yetenekler üzerinde yoğunlaşın.

There are many types of skills that you learn on the job that would be transferable in any field. When listing your work experience, include the location and dates you worked for each job or volunteer position.
İşte çalışırken öğrenilip her hangi bir alana aktarılabilen pek çok çeşit yetenek bulunmaktadır. İş deneyimlerini sıralarken, çalıştığınız veya gönüllü olarak yaptığınız her işin yer ve tarih bilgilerini ekleyin.

Use action words to describe what you did in the positions you held.Focus on the top-five duties for each job.
Bulunduğunuz pozisyonlarda yaptığınız işleri somut eylemlerle anlatın. Her bir işteki beş en önemli göreve odaklanın.

Other relevant information.
İngilizce CV’lerde diğer alakalı bilgiler.

You may also want to include your job goals, the languages you speak, or any relevant achievements or awards. You can also include interests or activities that say something positive about you.
İş hedefleriniz, bildiğiniz diller veya ilgili başarılar, ödüllerden bahsedebilirsiniz. Sizin hakkınızda olumlu izlenim oluşturacak aktiviteleriniz veya ilgi alanlarınızı ekleyebilirsiniz.

Don’t forget, however, that the point of your résumé is to show why you are the right person for the job.Remember to  keep your résumé concise, with the most important information at the top.
Şunu unutmayın, İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş örneğinin amacı sizin neden o iş için doğru kişi olduğunuzu anlatmaktır. En önemli bilgiler üst kısımda olacak şekilde İngilizce özgeçmiş yazınızı kısa ve öz tutun.

Some résumé tips.
Bazı İngilizce özgeçmiş tavsiyeleri.

Think ahead. If you wait until the last minute to hand in your résumé, you could miss the deadline and risk not being considered for the job.
İleriyi düşünün. Eğer İngilizce özgeçmişinizi vermek için son ana kadar beklerseniz, son başvuru tarihini kaçırabilirsiniz veya iş için değerlendirilmenizi riske atarsınız.

Tailor your résumé.Include information on your résumé associated with the job you are applying for.
İngilizce CV / Özgeçmişinizi uyarlayın. İngilizce özgeçmişinize başvurmakta olduğunuz iş ile alakalı bilgiler ekleyin.

Chunk it out.And by that we mean if there is lots of information, break it into separate sections with specific headings.
İngilizce CV örneğinizi bölümlere ayırın. Bu; eğer çok fazla bilgi varsa bunları spesifik başlıklarla farklı bölümlere ayırmanız anlamına gelir.

So activities, awards, professional involvement, education, work experience, volunteer experience, internships, have each of those in a separate category.Again use action words.
Böylece, aktiviteler, ödüller, mesleki bağlılık, eğitim, iş tecrübesi, gönüllülük deneyimi, stajlar – bunların hepsi ayrı kategorilere sahip olurlar.Tekrar, somut eylem ifadeleri kullanın.

Focus on things you have accomplished, and avoid starting every sentence with “I”.Proofread.Never rely on spot spell check.
Başardığınız şeyler üzerinde yoğunlaşın ve her cümlenize “Ben” diye başlamayın. İngilizce CV örneğinizde düzeltmeler yapın. Asla noktasal imla kontrolüna güvenmeyin.

Repeat tip 5.Even one misspelled word could put you on the “do not consider” pile.Make your résumé presentable.Make sure your résumé looks clean and organized.
5. ipucunu tekrar edin. İngilizce CV’nizde yanlış yazılmış tek bir kelime bile sizi “değerlendirilmeyecekler” listesine koyabilir. İngilizce özgeçmişinizi takdim edilebilir yapın. İngilizce özgeçmişinizin temiz ve düzenli göründüğünden emin olun.

Use white, letter-sized paper and a font that’s easy to read, like Times New Roman or Arial. And this is very important.
Beyaz mektup kâğıdı (A4) kullanın ve Times New Roman veya Arial gibi okuması kolay font tercih edin. Ve bu çok önemlidir.

People think if they put their résumé on heavy stock or bright coloured paper it will certainly attract the interviewer’s attention, it will, but not in a positive way.So keep it simple.Keep it concise.
İnsanlar, İngilizce özgeçmişlerini ağır ya da parlak renkli kâğıda yazdıklarında görüşmecinin dikkatini çekeceğini düşünürler; çekecektir fakat olumlu yönde değil. Dolayısıyla basit tutun.İngilizce CV’nizi kısa tutun.

Try to keep your résumé as short as possible, ideally one or two pages.Be honest.Lying on your résumé is never a good idea.
İngilizce özgeçmişinizi mümkün olduğunca kısa tutun, ideal olarak bir veya iki sayfadır. Dürüst olun. İngilizce özgeçmişinizde yalan söylemek hiçbir zaman iyi bir fikir değildir.

Many people who lie on their applications end up losing their jobs when their employers find out the truth.Be professional.
İngilizce iş başvurularında yalan söyleyen kişiler, işverenleri gerçeği öğrendiğinde işlerini kaybederler. Profesyonel olun.

Remember, this is a business document, so don’t include unnecessary embellishments like flashy paper or a picture, although many applications we do now include our picture, often times a company will request a picture, but it’s sometimes not appropriate to send the picture depending on the company and the position.
Bunun bir iş evrakı olduğunu unutmayın, parlak kâğıt, resim gibi gereksiz süslemeler eklemeyin. Şimdi bir çok iş başvurusunda fotoğraf kullanıyoruz ve sıklıkla şirketler de fotoğraf  talep edeceklerdir. Bazen şirkete ve başvurulan pozisyona bağlı olarak fotoğraf göndermek uygun olmayabilir.

Now look at a curriculum vitae.
Şimdi ayrıntılı İngilizce özgeçmişe bakalım.

A curriculum vitae, often called a CV, is a longer, two or more pages, and more detailed synopsis. We use a curriculum vitae to apply for international, academic, education, scientific or research positions or when applying for fellowships and grants.
Sıkça İngilizce CV olarak adlandırılan ayrıntılı özgeçmiş daha uzun iki veya daha fazla sayfası olan daha ayrıntılı özettir. İngilizce CV’yi uluslar arası, akademik, eğitim, bilim veya araştırma pozisyonlarına başvururken ya da üniversite bursu veya ödenekler için başvururken kullanırız.

As with a résumé, you may need different versions of a CV for the different positions you are applying for.
İngilizce kısa özgeçmişlerde olduğu gibi, başvurduğunuz farklı tür pozisyonlar için değişik tip İngilizce CV hazırlamaya ihtiyaç duyabilirsiniz.

What to include.
Neler eklemeli?

Like a résumé, your CV should include your name, contact information, education, skills, experience.
İngilizce kısa özgeçmişlerde olduğu gibi, İngilizce CV’niz, adınız, irtibat bilgileriniz, eğitim durumunuz, becerileriniz, deneyimlerininiz hakkında bilgi içermelidir.

In addition to the basics, a CV also includes research and teaching experience, as well as publications, grants, fellowships, professional associations, licenses, awards and other information relevant to the job or position.
Temel bilgilerin ek olarak, bir İngilizce CV’de araştırma ve öğretim tecrübesi, yayınlar, ödenek ve üniversite bursları, mesleki bağlı kuruluşlar, lisanslar, ödüller ve iş ile alakalı diğer bilgiler bulunur.

Start by making a list of all your background information, and then again, organize it into categories.
Özgeçmiş bilgilerinin İngilizce bir listesini yaparak başlayın, sonra bunu kategorilere ayırarak tekrar düzenleyin.

Make sure you include dates on all the publications you include.Don’t just write one CV and use it for every position.
Eklediğiniz tüm yayınlar için tarih bilgilerini belirtin. Yalnız tek bir İngilizce CV oluşturup bunu her pozisyon için göndermeyin.

Have targeted and focused versions of your curriculum vitae and use them accordingly. So for research grants, for a teaching assignment, each CV should be tailored for that position.
İngilizce CV’nizin hedefe yönelik ve odaklı modellerini oluşturun ve bunları uygun biçimde kullanın. Dolayısıyla, araştırma ödeneği için, öğretim görevi için her bir İngilizce CV pozisyona göre uyarlanmalıdır.

Keep it Short.Although a curriculum vitae is longer than a résumé, it should not go into 8 or 10 pages.I think the maximum of 4 to 5 pages would be appropriate. So keep it short.
Kısa tutun. İngilizce CV, İngilizce kısa özgeçmişten daha uzun olmasına rağmen, 8-10 sayfa uzunluğunda olmamalıdır. En çok 4-5 sayfa uzunluğun uygun olacağı görüşündeyim. Dolayısıyla kısa tutun.

Include summaries of your employment and education, rather than lots of other details.Use formal and well-written language, write simply and clearly.Tell the truth.
Başka ayrıntılardan ziyade iş ve eğitim durumu bilgilerinin özetini ekleyin. Resmi ve uygun bir üslup kullanın, sade ve açık bir şekilde yazın. Gerçeği söyleyin.

It can be tempting to make your educational qualifications or your work history sound a little better than they really are.If you’re tempted to stretch the truth about your work history – don’t.
Eğitim durumu ya da iş deneyimi bilgilerinizi olduklarından daha iyi göstermek cazip gelebilir. Eğer iş geçmişinizle ilgili gerçekleri biraz esnetmeyi düşünürseniz, bunu yapmayın.

Your most employers conduct reference checks and background checks. If your curriculum vitae does not match your actual work history or education, you will most likely get caught at some point and you will not get the job or if you do have the job you would be fired.
Çoğu işveren referans ve özgeçmiş kontrolü yapar. Eğer İngilizce CV’nizdeki bilgiler sizin iş geçmişiniz veya eğitim durumu bilgilerinizde uyuşmazsa, büyük ihtimalle bir yerde yakayı ele verip işe alınmayabilir veya eğer o işte çalışıyorsanız kovulabilirsiniz.

So keep those ideas in mind and good luck with writing your curriculum vitae or your résumé.
Bu fikirleri aklınızdan çıkarmayın ve İngilizce kısa özgeçmiş veya İngilizce CV’nizi yazma sürecinizde başarılar dilerim.

İngilizce Forming Questions Video Konu Anlatımı

Forming Questions – İngilizce Soru Oluşturmak Video Konu Anlatımı
(İngilizce – Türkçe Altyazılı)

Hello, and welcome to Speak English® online video lessons. Today I’m going to talk about forming questions in English.

Merhaba, Speak English® online İngilizce video derslerine hoş geldiniz.Bugün İngilizcede soru oluşturmak hakkında konuşacağım.

The first questions we’re going to look at are forming questions with ‘to be’. Now ‘to be’ is the first verb you learn in English and it has its own rules so it follows a slightly different pattern to other verbs. We start with a question word and then the ‘to be’ and the subject of the question.

İlk bakacağımız sorular İngilizce’de ‘olmak’ fiiliyle soru oluşturmak olacak.İngilizcede ilk öğrendiğimiz fiil ‘olmak’ fiilidir ve kendine ait kuralları vardır, bu nedenle İngilizce’deki diğer fiillerden biraz değişik bir şablon izler.Öncelikle soru kelimesiyle başlarız sonra İngilizce ” to be” ( olmak) fiili gelir ve ardından da İngilizce soru cümlesinin öznesi gelir.

For example, in present simple, where is the bank?

Örneğin, İngilizce geniş zamanda, ’Where is the bank’? (Banka nerde?)

Where is the question word, is is the form of to be, the bank is the subject.

Where (Nerede) soru kelimesi, ”is” ‘olmak’ fiilinin çekimi, banka da öznedir (subject).

Let’s look at past simple. How was the party?

Haydi İngilizce’de geçmiş zamana (past simple) bakalım. ’How was the party? (Parti nasıldı?).

All we’ve done is change to be to the past, question word how, the party is the subject.

Bütün yaptığımız ‘olmak ‘ fiilini İngilizce’de geçmiş zamana çevirmektir, how (nasıl) soru kelimesi, parti de öznedir (subject).

Another present simple example, how are you? Simply. Past simple. Where was he yesterday? Now other verbs follow the same pattern for most tenses.

İngilizce başka bir geniş zaman (present simple) örneği, ’how are you’? (Nasılsın?)Basit. İngilizce geçmiş zaman (past simple), ’Where was he yesterday’’ (O dün nerdeydi?)İngilizce’de diğer fiillerin (verbs) çoğu aynı şablonu izler.

We’re looking at questions with question words. So we’ve got a lot of different tenses to look at. They all start with a question word, then the auxiliary verb, then the subject, then the main verb.

Soru kelimeleriyle İngilizce sorulara bakıyoruz.Bu yüzden bakacağımız çok İngilizce ‘zaman kipi’ var.Tümü soru kelimesiyle başlar, sonra yardımcı fiil (auxiliary verb), sonra özne (subject) ve sonra esas fiil gelir.

So present simple, question word here is where do you live? The auxiliary verb for present simple is do.

İngilizce geniş zamanda soru kelimesi ’where… do you live’..(Nerde yaşıyorsun?)İngilizce geniş zamanda yardımcı fiili ‘yapmak’ anlamına gelen ”do” fiilidir.

Past simple? When did you graduate from university? The question word here is when, did is the auxiliary verb.

İngilizce geçmiş zamanda ‘When did you graduate from University? (Üniversite’den ne zaman mezun oldun?)Buradaki İngilizce soru kelimesi ’When (ne zaman)’ dır, ”did” yardımcı fiildir.

Present perfect? Which countries have you visited? Here we have a question phrase, and have is the auxiliary verb for present perfect.

İngilizce Present Perfect için ’Which countires have you visited? (Hangi ülkeleri ziyaret ettin?)Burada bir soru kalıbımız var ve ”have’’ İngilizce present perfect’te yardımcı fiildir.

Be going to? When are you going to start your new job? Here we have a question word when, the auxiliary verb are and the main verb with going to.

İngilizce’de ”Be” için ‘going to’ kullanılır, ’When are you going to start your new job?’ (Yeni işine ne zaman başlayacaksın?)Burada İngilizce soru kelimemiz ‘when’dir, are yardımcı fiil ve asıl fiil ‘going to’dur.

Next we’re going to take a look at yes / no questions.

Ardından İngilizce evet / hayır sorularına bakacağız.

Yes / no questions are called this because the only answer for them is yes or no, so they come without a question word. So the only change we make to the pattern is take out the question word.

İngilizce Evet / Hayır soruları bu şekilde adlandırılır çünkü onlara verilecek tek cevap evet veya hayırdır, yani soru kelimesi olmadan gelirler.Ve bu tabloda yaptığımız tek değişiklik İngilizce soru kelimesini kaldırmak.

Let’s look at some other tenses.

Haydi İngilizce’de diğer ‘zaman kiplerine’ bakalım.

We’ve got present continuous.

İngilizce Present Continuous (Şimdiki zaman).

The auxiliary verb that we start with is are. Are you playing, the main verb, are you playing tennis on Saturday?

Başlayacağımız ilk İngilizce yardımcı fiil ‘are’ dır.”Are you playing” esas fiildir. ’Are you playing tenis on Saturday? (Cumartesi günleri tenis oynuyor musun?)

Present perfect. Have you been to Italy? Have is the auxiliary verb that we start with. Been is the main verb as a past participle.

İngilizce Present Perfect – ’Have you been to Italy? ’’(Hiç İtalya’da bulundun mu?) ‘Have” başlangıçta kullandığımız İngilizce yardımcı fiildir.’Been” past participle olarak esas fiildir.

Will + infinitive. Will David be at the party? Will, here, is the auxiliary verb for the future. Be is the infinitive main verb.

Will + infintive için ‘Will David be at the party?’’ (David partide olacak mı?)Will, burada gelecek zaman için İngilizce yardımcı fiildir.’Be” esas fiildir.

And past perfect example, had she met him before? Had is the auxiliary verb for past perfect. Met is the main verb.

Ve İngilizce Past Perfect örneği ‘Had she met him before’? (Onunla daha önce karşılaştı mı?)’Had” İngilizce past perfect için yardımcı fiildir.’Met” esas fiildir.

Next we’re going to look at the placement of prepositions.

Şimdi İngilizce’de edatların (prepositions) yerleşimine bakacağız.

Now in old style English or very formal English today they still use the preposition at the beginning of a question, but this is very formal. You’ll still see it in some books or in some formal correspondence, but usually, these days, we use informal language.

Eskiden kullanılan İngilizce’de veya resmi İngilizce’de edatlar hala sorunun başında kullanılır ama bu çok resmidir.Bunlara hala bazı İngilizce kitaplarda veya İngilizce resmi yazışmalarda karşılaşırsınız, ama şimdilerde genellikle günlük dili kullanıyoruz.

So let’s look at it where it comes at the front.

Şimdi nereye geldiğine bakacağız.

From where does he come? From at the beginning. In which city does she live? In is the preposition at the beginning.

From where does he come? (Nereden geliyor/Nereli?)’From” baştadır.In which city does he live? (Hangi şehirde yaşıyor?)’In” baştaki edattır (preposition).

By which route will you travel? By at the beginning of the question. But these days in modern English, or if we need to be informal, we move the preposition from the beginning to the end.

By which route will you travel? (Hangi yoldan seyahat edecelsiniz?)’By” İngilizce sorunun başındadır.Ama şimdilerde modern İngilizce’de yada resmi olmak istemiyorsak, edatı baştan alıp sona koyarız.

For example; (Örneğin;)

Where does he come from?

Where does he come from? (O nereli?)

Which city does she live in?

Which city does she live in? (Hangi şehirde yaşıyor?)

Which route will you travel by?

Which route will you travel by? (Hangi yoldan seyahat edeceksiniz?)

In general, this is the preferred position.

İngilizce’de genelde bu tercih edilen yöntemdir.

Now another type of question is subject questions. Subject questions, if the question word is the subject of the question, we don’t use an auxiliary verb.

Bir başka soru tipi olan İngilizce (subject questions) özne sorularıdır.İngilizce özne sorularında (subject questions) eğer İngilizce soru kelimesi sorunun öznesi ise, yardımcı fiil kullanmayız.

For example, Who won the race? Maybe John won the race. John is the subject so who is the subject of the question. We don’t say who did win the race? This is incorrect. The same goes for what happened? What is the subject of the question so we don’t need an auxiliary verb. Not what did happen?

Örneğin, Who won the race? (Yarışı kim kazandı?)Belki, John won the race (John yarışı kazandı).John öznedir ve ”who;” İngilizce sorunun öznesidir.’who did win the race’ demeyiz.İngilizce’de bu yanlıştır.Aynı şey ‘What happened‘ için de geçerlidir.”What” sorunun öznesidir, bu nedenle İngilizce’de yardımcı fiile ihtiyacımız yoktur.İngilizce’de ’What did happen” değildir.

Who wrote Hamlet? Not who did write Hamlet? No auxiliary necessary.

Who wrote Hamlet? (Hamlet’i kim yazdı?)”Who did wrote Hamlet” değil.Yardımcı fiile gerek yoktur.

Next we’re going to take a look at indirect questions. Indirect questions are used for politeness. Usually when we are talking to someone we know, a friend, or a family member, we use direct questions. This is normal.

Şimdi İngilizce indirect sorulara bakacağız.İngilizce Indirect sorular nezaket içindir.İngilizce’de çoğu zaman tanıdığımız biriyle arkadaş yada aile bireyleriyle konuşurken direct sorular kullanırız.Bu normaldir.

For example, what time does the train leave? Where is the bank? Is there a meeting today?

But, if we want to be formal or more polite, or in an office setting, we can be more polite by adding an indirect phrase at the beginning of the question.

Örneğin ’What time does the train leave? (Tren kaçta hareket ediyor?)Where is the bank? (Banka nerde?)Is there a meeting today? (Bugün toplantı var mı?)Ama eğer İngilizce’de resmi ve daha nazik olmak istiyorsak, sorunun başına “indirect phrase” ekleriz.

For example, the first question can be changed to could you tell me what time the train leaves?

Örneğin ilk İngilizce soru ‘could you tell me what time the train leaves? şeklinde değiştirilebilir.

Where is the bank? Can change to Do you know where the bank is?

Where is the bank? (Banka nerede?)Do you know where the bank is? (Bankanın nerde olduğunu biliyor musunuz?) şeklinde değişebilir.

Is there a meeting today? Can you tell me if there is a meeting today?

Bugün bir toplantı var mı?Can you tell me if there is a meeting today? (Bugün bir toplantı varsa bana söyleyebilir misin?) şeklinde değiştirilir.

Now there’s a difference between these two questions and this one. These two questions start with a question word and when we change them to indirect questions the question word is used after the indirect phrase. When there is no question word at the beginning of a direct question we use if in the middle of the indirect question. Another important thing about indirect questions is that the verb and the subject change place.

Burada bu ilk iki İngilizce cümle ve bu İngilizce soruda bir fark vardır.İlk ikisi soru cümlesiyle başlar ve onları indirect sorulara dönüştürdüğümüzde İngilizce soru kelimesi “indirect phrase”den sonra kullanılır.İngilizce “Direct” sorunun başında soru kelimesi yoksa “if” i İngilizce “Indirect” sorunun ortasında kullanırız.İngilizce “Indirect” sorularda bir başka önemli unsur fiilin (verb) ve öznenin (subject) yer değiştirmesidir.

So what time does the train leave? Changes to could you tell me what time the train leaves?

Böylece ‘what time does the train leave?’Could you tell me what time the train leaves (Tren ne zaman hareket edecek söyleyebilir misiniz?) şeklinde değişir.

The subject and verb have changed place.

İngilizce cümlede özne (subject) ve fiil (verb) yer değiştirir.

Where is the bank? Changes to do you know where the bank is? Subject and verb change place. Is there a meeting today? Is there, there is. OK. OK, we’re just going to recap what we looked at today.

Where is the bank? … Do you know where the bank is? olarak değişir.Özne (subject) ve yüklem (verb) yer değiştirdiler. ’Is there a meeting today?’ (Bugün bir toplantı var mı?)Is there, there is.OK.OK, şimdi bugün neler yaptığımızı gözden geçirelim.

The first thing we looked at was questions with to be. The verb to be always follows its own rules so it has its own pattern of question word, verb and subject.

İlk olarak baktığımız konu İngilizce “to be” ile sorulardı.İngilizce’de “To be” fiili her zaman kendi kurallarını takip eder yani soru kelimelerinde kendine ait bir şablonu vardır, fill (verb) ve özne (subject).

For example:

İngilizce örnek cümleler:

Where is Peter?

Where is Peter? (Peter nerede?)

Why are you here?

Why are you here? (Neden buradasın?)

Who is your father?

Who is your father? (Senin baban kim?)

What is your name?

What is your name? (Senin adın ne?)

Where were you born?

Where were you born? (Nerede doğdun?)

All other verbs follow the same pattern of question, auxiliary, subject and verb.

Diğer tüm İngilizce fiiller aynı soru kelimesi, yardımcı fiil, özne, fiil ve fiil kalıbını izler.

Present simple

İngilizce Present simple (İngilizce Geniş zaman)

What do you do on Saturdays?

What do you do on Saturdays? (Cumartesileri ne yaparsın?)

Present continuous.

İngilizce Present Continous (İngilizce şimdiki zaman)

Where is he going?

Where is he going? (Nereye gidiyor?)

These are the auxiliaries in the questions.

Bunlar İngilizce sorulardaki yardımcı fiillerdir.

Present perfect.

İngilizce Present Perfect (İngilizce yakın geçmiş zaman)

What sports have you tried?

What sports have you tried? (Hangi sporları denedin?)

Past simple.

İngilizce past simple (İngilizce geçmiş zaman)

Where did you go?

Where did you go? (Nereye gittin?)

And past continuous.

Ve İngilizce past continous (İngilizce geçmiş zamanın hikayesi)

Why was she crying this morning?

Why was she crying this morning? (Bu sabah neden ağlıyordu?)

Here are some more examples in different tenses.

İşte İngilizce’de farklı tenslere / zaman’larda birkaç örnek daha.

So past perfect.

İngilizce past perfect (İngilizce miş’li geçmiş zaman)

Where had he seen her before? Auxiliary verb had.

‘Where had he seen her before? (Daha önce (O) onu nerde görmüştü?)Yardımcı fiil ”had”.

Will + infinitive.

Will + infinitive.

Who will she invite to the party? Will is the auxiliary verb.

Who will she invite to the party? (Partiye kimleri davet edecek?)”Will” yardımcı fiildir.

Be going to.

İngilizce be going to (İngilizce yakın gelecek zaman)

What are you going to wear to the wedding? Are, auxiliary verb.

What are you going to wear to the wedding? (Düğünde ne giyeceksin?)Are, yardımcı fiil.

Future continuous.

İngilizce future continuous (İngilizce sürekli gelecek zaman)

What will you be doing next week? Will is the auxiliary.

What will you be doing next week? (Gelecek hafta ne yapıyor olacaksın?)”Will” yardımcı fiildir.

Future perfect.

İngilizce future perfect (İngilizce miş’li gelecek zaman)

How far will he have travelled by tomorrow?

Yarına kadar ne kadar seyahat etmiş olacak?

So as you can see, in all the tenses, we follow the same pattern. Question, auxiliary, subject and verb. Next we’re going to remember subject questions. When the question word is the subject of a question, we use no auxiliary verb.

Gördüğünüz gibi, tüm İngilizce zamanlarda aynı kalıbı takip ediyoruz.Soru, yardımcı fiil, özne ve esas fiil.Şimdi özne sorularını (subject questions) hatırlayacağız.İngilizce’de soru kelimesi sorunun öznesi olduğunda, yardımcı fiil kullanmayız.

Who invented the telephone? Alexander Graham Bell, subject, invented the telephone. So the who is the subject, too. No auxiliary.

Who invented the telephone? (Telefonu kim icat etti?)Alexander Graham Bell, özne (subject) invented the telephone (telefonu icat etti)Yani ”Who” da öznedir.Yardımcı fiil yok.

What caused the accident? Slippery roads caused the accident. This is the subject which refers to what. So “what” is the question word. What is the subject. No auxiliary verb. And lastly, we looked at indirect questions today and we use indirect questions for extra politeness. So if you say what’s the time? We add an indirect phrase such as could you tell me what the time is?Also the verb and the subject change place.

What caused the accident? (Kazaya ne sebep oldu?)Kaygan yol kazaya sebep oldu.Bu “what”ı refere eden öznedir (subject).Yani “what” soru kelimesidir?Özne (subject) nedir?Yardımcı fiil yoktur. ve bugün son olarak İngilizce indirect sorulara baktık İngilizce indirect soruları extra nezaket için kullandık.Eğer ’what’s the time?’ derseniz; ‘Could you tell me what the time is’ şeklinde indirect kalıp ekleriz.Fiil (verb) ve özne (subject) yer değiştirir.

What’s the best way to get to Beşiktaş?

What’s the best way to get to Beşiktaş? (Beşiktaş’a gitmenin en iyi yolu nedir?)

Can you tell me what the best way to get to Beşiktaş is?

Can you tell me what the best way to get to Beşiktaş is? (Beşiktaş’a gitmenin en iyi yolu nedir söyleyebilir misiniz?)

Why has the train been delayed?

Why has the train delayed? (Tren neden ertelenmiş?)

Would you mind telling me why the train has been delayed?

Would you mind telling me why the train has been delayed? (Acaba tren neden geç kalmış söyler misiniz?)

The Interview
İngilizce Mülakat Hazırlığı Soru ve Cevapları Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to Speak English ® Online Video Lessons.
Speak English® Online İngilizce video derslerine hoş geldiniz.

My name is Lynne and today I’m going to be talking about the interview and how to respond to interview questions.
İsmim Lynne ve bugün İngilizce mülakat ve İngilizce mülakat sorularına nasıl cevap verilmesi gerektiğinden bahsediyor olacağım.

The interview is a chance for a person-to-person meeting. The interviewer does not know you except for your letter of application and your resume or CV.
İngilizce mülakat bir kişiler arası görüşme fırsatıdır.İngilizce mülakatı yapan kişi sizi başvuru mektubunuz ve İngilizce Cv’niz dışında sizi tanımaz.

The first impression is especially important. An interview is an opportunity for you to prove that you are the right person for the position. Be prepared to demonstrate your knowledge and experience and show that you understand the job requirements. Making a good first impression includes dressing appropriately in business attire. For men, of course, that’s a business suit, for ladies, business suit or a dress.
İlk izlenim özellikle önemlidir.İngilizce mülakat o iş pozisyonu için doğru insan olduğunuzu göstermeniz için bir fırsattır.Tüm bilgi ve donanımızı ve işin gerekliliklerini anladığınızı göstermek için hazır olun.İyi bir ilk izlenim yaratmaya işe uygun giyinmekte dahildir.Erkekler için bu tabi ki takım elbise, bayanlar için de bir takım veya elbisedir.

Give a firm handshake. Make eye contact. Smile. Think before you speak, and speak clearly.
Sıkı tokalaşın.Göz temasında bulunun.Gülümseyin.Konuşmadan önce düşünün ve net konuşun.

There are various types of interview questions that are generally asked during an interview.
Bir İngilizce mülakat süresince genellikle sorulan çeşitli mülakat soruları vardır.

One type is interpersonal questions. With interpersonal questions, the interviewer wants to learn about you. Your strengths, your weaknesses, the challenges of your current and previous work experience, how you see yourself and your professional goals.
Bunlardan biri kişiye özel sorulardır.Kişiye özel sorularda İngilizce mülakatı yapan sizin hakkınızda bilgi sahibi olmak ister.Bunlar güçlü yanlarınız,zayıf yanlarınız,şu anki ve bir önceki iş deneyiminizdeki zorluklar, kendinizi nasıl gördüğünüz ve işle ilgili hedeflerinizdir.

Examples of interpersonal questions.
İngilizce Mülakatlarda kişisel soru örnekleri.

Tell me about yourself.
Bana kendinizden bahsedin.

What are your strengths?
Güçlü yanlarınız nelerdir?

What are your weaknesses?
Zayıf yanlarınız nelerdir?

How would your manager or colleagues describe you?
İşvereniniz ya da iş arkadaşlarınız sizi nasıl tanımlar?

And what do you consider your greatest achievement?
ve en büyük başarınız nedir?

Now let’s look at some ways that we can possibly answer these questions.
Şimdi bu soruları cevaplayabileceğimiz çeşitli yollara bakalım.

Tell me about yourself.
Bana kendinizden bahsedin.

Now be careful not to give the interviewer your whole life story. You don’t need to explain everything from birth to present day. But facts about education, your career and your current life situation are fine.
Burada İngilizce mülakatı yapan kişiye tüm yaşam hikayenizi anlatmamaya özen gösterin.Doğumunuzdan bugüne kadar her şeyi anlatmanıza gerek yok.Ama eğitimiz hakkında bilgiler, iş hayatınız ve şu anki durumunuz yeterlidir.

What are your strengths?
Güçlü yanlarınız nelerdir?

Here the interviewer is looking for work-related strengths. You’re being asked to explain why you are a great employee, so don’t hold back. Do be positive.
Burada İngilizce mülakatı yapan kişi işle ilgili güçlü yanlarınızı öğrenmek istiyordur.Neden çok iyi bir çalışan olduğunuz soruluyor, kendinizi geride tutmayın.Olumlu olun.

Some examples of strengths.
Güçlü yanlardan bazıları.

Someone who thrives under pressure, a great motivator, an amazing problem solver, someone with great attention to detail, a team player.
Zorlukların üstesinden gelen, iyi bir motivatör, inanılmaz derecede iyi sorun çözen, detaya çok dikkat eden, takım halinde çalışmaya çok uygun biri.

What are your weaknesses?
Zayıf yanlarınız nelerdir?

When asked this question it’s best to give a small, work-related fault that you’re working hard to improve. Here you don’t want to say anything that’s really, really bad. You just simply want to look at something that you’re aware of and how you’re working to improve that situation.
Bu soru sorulduğunda işle ilgili düzeltmeye çalıştığınız küçük bir hatanızı söylemek en iyisidir.Burada gerçekten kötü bir şey söylemek istemezsiniz.Sadece farkında olduğunuz bir hatanızı ve nasıl bunu düzeltmeye çalıştığınızı anlatın.

For example, I’ve been told I often focus on details and miss the bigger picture, so I’ve been laying out the complete project every day to see my overall progress.
Örneğin, bana detaylara çok önem verip ‘bütün’ü’ göremediğim söylenir, bu yüzden her gün ‘bütün’e bakıp genel gelişimimi gözlemliyorum.

How would your managers or colleagues describe you?
İşvereniniz ve takım arkadaşlarınız sizi nasıl tanımlar?

Stay positive. You want to think of a way that they describe you in a very positive way. Have a few specific quotes in mind. You could say they might say I’m a hard worker and the most reliable, creative problem-solver that they’ve ever met. Someone who’s a good team player, someone who works very hard, dedicated, and again, a problem solver.
Olumlu olun.Onların sizi çok olumlu tanımladıklarını anlatın.Aklınızda belirli kalıplar olsun.Onların sizin için çalışkan ve tanıdıkları en güvenilir, yaratıcı ve problem çözücü insan olduğunuzu düşündüklerini söyleyin.İyi bir takım arkadaşı, çok çalışan, işine bağlı ve yine iyi bir problem çözücü olduğunuz.

What do you consider your greatest achievement?
En büyük başarınızı ne olarak görüyorsunuz?

The best way to respond is to give an example of something you accomplished that is directly related to the job you are interviewing for.
Buna cevap vermenin en iyi yolu direk olarak İngilizce mülakatta bulunduğunuz işle ilgili bir başarınızı anlatmanızdır.

Review your resume and the job requirements. Find something to show how your accomplishment could benefit the company.
İngilizce özgeçmişinizi ve işin gerekliliklerini tekrar edin.Sizin başarınızın şirkete nasıl faydalı olabileceğinden göstermek için bir konu bulun.

Behavioral questions.
İngilizce Mülakatlarda davranışla ilgili sorular.

Now with behavioral questions, the interviewer wants to learn about your friendly or hostile relationships with the people around you.
Şimdi davranışsal sorularda, İngilizce mülakatı yapan kişi sizin çevrenize karşı arkadaş canlısı mı yoksa düşmanca ilişkiler içerisinde mi olduğunuzu öğrenmek ister.

Some examples.
Bazı örnekler.

Describe what you think makes a good supervisor, manager or team leader.
İyi bir işveren, yönetici yada grup lideri olmanın gereklilikleri hakkında ne düşündüğünüzü tanımlayın.

Do you prefer to work alone or as part of a team?
Yalnız mı yoksa takım halinde mi çalışmayı tercih edersiniz?

What motivates you?
Sizi ne motive eder?

Baskı altında da iyi çalışırmısınız?

And how do you define success?
Başarıyı nasıl tanımlarsınız?

And sample answers.
İngilizce Mülakat Örnek Cevaplar

In measuring success, I measure success by meeting the goals set by my supervisors and fellow workers.
Başarıyı ölçerken, başarıyı amirlerimin ve iş arkadaşlarımın koyduğu hedefleri karşılayabilme gücümle ölçerim.

Do you prefer to work alone or as part of a team?
Yalnız mı yoksa bir takım halinde mi çalışmayı tercih edersiniz?

I am equally comfortable working as a member of a team and independently. And for almost every job that you’ll ever hold you’re going to be working as part of a team, so as much as you might want to work alone, it’s always good to say that you are comfortable working with a team.
Hem takım halinde hem de bağımsız olarak çalışma konularında eşit derecede rahatım.Ve çalışacağınız hemen her türlü işte bir takımın parçası olacaksınız, bağımsız çalışmayı ne kadar isteseniz de, takım halinde çalışmanın sizin için uygun olduğunu söylemeniz her zaman iyidir.

Do you work well under pressure?
Baskı altında verimli çalışır mısınız?

There are a few ways to answer this but they should all be positive. You can say that you work well under pressure, or you may thrive under pressure, and you may actually prefer to work under pressure.
Bunu cevaplayacak birkaç yol vardır ama tümü olumlu olmalıdır.Baskı altında iyi çalıştığınızı veya baskı altında daha çok geliştiğinizi ve aslında baskı altında çalışmayı tercih ettiğinizi söyleyebilirsiniz.

What motivates you to do a good job?
Sizi iyi bir iş çıkarmak için ne motive eder?

The answer to this one is not money, even if it is. You want recognition for a job well done. You want to become better at your job. Or you want to help others and be a leader in your field.
Buna cevabınız, öyle olsa bile, para olmamalı.İyi bir işten sonra beğenilmek.İşinizde daha iyi olmak.Ya da başkalarına yardım etmek ve alanınızda lider olmak.

What do you think makes a good supervisor, manager or team leader?
Neyin iyi bir amir, yönetici yada grup lideri yaptığını düşünürsün?

Some possible responses.

Some examples of good responses.
İngilizce mülakatlarda bazı iyi cevaplardan örnekler.

I think one of the most important things I’ve learned is persistence. Not to give up too soon, because the solution is probably right in front of me. I have learned to give every person a second chance, because first impressions can often be misleading.
Öğrendiğim en önemli şeylerden birinin kararlılık olduğunu düşünüyorum.Hemen vazgeçmemek, çünkü belki de çözüm hemen önümdedir.Herkese ikinci bir şans vermeyi öğrendim, çünkü ilk izlenim sıklıkla yanıltıcı olabilir.

İNGILIZCE PASSIVE VIDEO KONU ANLATIMI

İngilizce Passive Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to Speak English ® online video lessons.
Speak English® online İngilizce video derslerine hoş geldiniz.

My name is Cari. I’ll be your teacher today and our topic is passive.
Benim adım Cari.Bugünkü öğretmeninizim ve konumuz İngilizce’de (passive) edilgen çatı.

So, first let’s look at the grammar for passive.
İlk olarak, İngilizce’de edilgen çatının dilbilgisi yapısına bakalım.

Am, is, are + verb 3 will be our present passive. So of course you need your subject, am, is, are, verb 3 and your object.
İngilizce’de “Am, is, are + V3” geniş zamanda edilgen çatıyı oluşturur. Tabi ki özneye, “Am, is, are + V3” ve nesneye ihtiyacınız olacak.

If I want to do past passive all I do is change it to was and were. So there’s our grammar today.
Geçmiş zamanda edilgen çatı yapısını kurmak istersem, tüm yapmam gereken İngilizce’de “was” ve “were” değişimini yapmaktır. Bugünkü İngilizce dilbilgisi notumuz budur.

Now let’s look at the concept.
Şimdi konsepte bakalım.

What is active? What is passive? So our concept today that’s very important to understand is the difference between active and passive.
İngilizce’de Etken çatı (active) nedir? İngilizce’de Edilgen çatı (passive) nedir? Öyleyse bugünkü konseptimiz İngilizce’de etken (active) ve İngilizce’de edilgen çatı (passive) arasındaki farkın ne kadar önemli olduğunu anlamak.

So let’s look at a few photographs that might help us understand the two concepts here.
Haydi buradaki iki konsepti anlamamıza yardım edebilecek bir kaç fotoğrafa bakalım.

So we’re looking at this, ah, this painting by Van Gogh, and you see a skeleton, and you see that the skeleton is smoking.
Şu an Van Gough tarafından yapılan resme bakıyoruz, bir iskelet görüyorsunuz ve bu iskelet sigara içiyor.

So with active and passive we see two different things here. We have a problem here. Is the skeleton active or passive?Normally skeletons will be dead. Therefore, they can’t breathe, they can’t move, they can’t eat.Normally a skeleton would, therefore, be passive. They’re dead, they can’t do anything. But, in this picture, we see that the skeleton is active. The skeleton is smoking. So sometimes this concept can be very difficult.
Burada İngilizce Etken (active) ve edilgen (passive) çatılı olarak iki farklı şey görüyoruz. Burada bir problemimiz var.İskelet aktif mi yoksa pasif midir? Normal olarak, iskeletler cansızdır.Dolayısıyla nefes alamaz, hareket edemez, yemek yiyemezler. Normalde bu nedenle iskelet pasiftir.Cansızdırlar ve hiçbir şey yapamazlar. Fakat bu resimde iskeletin aktif durumda olduğunu görüyoruz. İskelet sigara içiyor. Bu kavramın anlaşılması bazen çok zor olabilir.

Let’s look at, here we see another Van Gogh, a chair. So we see that normally a chair, is it breathing? Is it living? Is it moving? Is it eating? No. So chairs and other things will be passive.
Şimdi başka bir Van Gough tablosuna bakalım, bir sandalye. Bir sandalye görüyoruz, normalde bu sandalye nefes alıyor mu?O canlı mıdır? Hareket ediyor mu? Yemek yiyor mu? Hayır. Sandalye ve diğer objeler pasiftir olacaktır.

Ah, however, let’s look at the candle. Here we see a candle. Candles can’t move, can’t breath, can’t live. Technically, candles are passive.
Fakat şu muma bakın. Burada bir mum görüyoruz. Mumlar hareket edemez, nefes alamaz, cansızdırlar. Teknik olarak mumlar pasiftir.

However, we see that the candle has fire so now we can make a normal active sentence.
Ama mumun alevi var, bu yüzden normal etken çatılı bir cümle kurabiliriz.

The candle is burning, for example. So we’re using present continuous tense to talk about a candle.
Örneğin : “Mum yanıyor” İngilizcesi : (The candle is burning). Bu örnekte, mumdan bahsetmek için şimdiki zamanı kullanıyoruz.

So again, it’s complicated.
Tekrar belirtmek isterim ki İngilizce’de bu konu karışık.

Candles can’t move, can’t breathe, therefore, candles should be passive. However, this candle is active.Same for the light here.
Mumlar hareket edemedikleri, nefes alamadıkları için edilgen çatılı olmalıdır. Fakat bu mum aktif yapılıdır. Aynı durum buradaki ışık için de geçerli.

Let’s look at the next picture.
Haydi bir sonraki resme bakalım.

Here we have the Galata tower, we’ve got trees, we’ve got some people here, we have buildings… What is active and what is passive?
Bu resimde Galata Kulesi, ağaçlar, bazı insanlar ve binalar var. İngilizce Aktif ve pasif olan nedir?
For example(Örneğin);

The people.People are moving, they are breathing, they’re living. People are normally active.
insanlar. İnsanlar hareket ediyor, nefes alıyorlar, yaşıyorlar. Genel manada insanlar aktiftir.

The tower, the Galata Tower, passive or active? Not moving, not living, not breathing, not doing anything. Therefore the tower will be passive.
Galata Kulesi, pasif mi yoksa aktif mi? Hareket etmiyor, yaşamıyor, nefes almıyor, hiçbir şey yapmıyor. Dolayısıyla kule pasif olacaktır.

Trees, though, are trees active or passive normally? Well, trees actually are living, they are growing, so we can say that trees can be active.
Peki, ağaçlar aktif mi ya da pasif midir? Aslında ağaçlar yaşar, büyürler, bu nedenle ağaçların aktif olabileceğini söyleyebiliriz.

For example(Örneğin);

The tree is moving because of the wind.
“Ağaçlar rüzgâr nedeniyle hareket ediyorlar” İngilizcesi : (the tree is moving because of the wind).

Let’s look at one more photograph as an example.
Haydi örnek olarak son bir fotoğrafa bakalım.

All right, we have a painting of a cow.
Tamam, bir inek resmimiz var.

So let’s make an active sentence and passive sentence.
Haydi birer İngilizce etken (active) ve edilgen (passive) çatılı cümle kuralım.

Cows are breathing, cows are living, so we can make active sentences, for example, the cow eats grass.
İnekler nefes alıyorlar, yaşıyorlar, bundan dolayı etken çatılı (active) cümle yapabiliriz, örneğin “the cow eats grass” (İnek ot yer.)

We have a normal active sentence.
İngilizce’de normal etken (active) bir cümlemiz var.

But let’s think. Can cows be passive? And yes, technically, we can do a sentence, for example, the cow am,is,are for present passive, was, were for past passive, we’ll use present passive here, the cow is fed by the farmer.
Ama haydi düşünelim. İnekler pasif olabilir mi? Evet, teknik olarak bir cümle yapabiliriz, örneğin : İngilizce geniş zamanda pasif yapmak için “am, is, are”; İngilizce geçmiş zamanda ise “was, were” kullanırız ve burada İngilizce geniş zaman kullanacağız : “the cow is fed by the farmer” (İnek, çiftçi tarafından beslenir.)

So in this sentence, we have one active person and we have one passive person. In this sentence, the cow’s doing nothing. Right? Feed means to give food.
Bu İngilizce cümlede bir aktif konumda ve bir pasif konumda kişi bulunmaktadır. Bu cümlede inek hiçbir şey yapmıyor.Değil mi?“Feed” beslemek anlamına gelir.

Who is giving the food in this sentence? Is the cow giving the food? No. In this sentence, the farmer is giving the food.So we have the farmer as our object and we have the cow as our subject. So we can make active sentences about cows and skeletons and candles and we can make passive sentences about cows, skeletons, candles.
Bu cümlede yiyeceği veren kimdir? Yiyeceği veren inek midir? Hayır. Bu cümlede yiyeceği veren çiftçidir. Dolayısıyla bu cümlede çiftçi nesne, inek ise özne olarak yer alır.Dolayısıyla, inekler, iskeletler, mumlar hakkında pasif ve aktif cümleler kurabiliriz.

So let’s look at the different reasons to use passive.
Haydi İngilizce edilgen çatı (pasif) kullanımının değişik nedenlerine bakalım.

So the first reason to use passive is for emotions.
İngilizce’de Pasif yapının ilk kullanım nedeni duygular içindir.

So let’s look at some photographs of some different emotions.
Farklı duyguları anlatan bazı fotoğraflara bakalım.

Here we’ve got a baby and we’ve got a girl who seems surprised.
Bu resimde, şaşırmış görünen bir bebek ve bir kız var.

We have many, many, many different passive adjectives for emotions.
İngilizce’de duygularımızı anlatan pek çok farklı pasif sıfat bulunur.

So if we make a sentence about this baby, for example, we can say, the baby is sleepy.
Eğer bu bebek ile ilgili bir cümle kurarsak, örneğin, “the baby is sleepy” (bebek uykulu) diyebiliriz.

That’s not a passive sentence, right? Sleepy is just a normal adjective. But, if you remember, for passives, we use am, is ,are and then we use verb 3.
Bu bir İngilizce pasif (edilgen çatılı) bir cümle değil, öyle değil mi? “Sleepy (uykulu)” İngilizce basit sıfattır. Fakat şunu hatırlayın, İngilizce’de pasif (edilgen çatı) için “am, is, are” ve ardından V3 kullanırız.

So what is a similar word that means sleepy but is actually a verb 3? Tired, the baby is tired. So technically, the baby is tired is a passive sentence and the baby is sleepy is a normal active adjective.
Öyleyse benzer anlama sahip ama aslında pasif yapıda (V3) olan bir kelime nedir? Tired (yorgun)”, “Baby is tired (Bebek yorgun)”. Dolayısıyla “baby is tired” teknik olarak İngilizce pasif bir cümle; “baby is sleepy” ise İngilizce normal bir sıfattır.

So let’s look at, for example, this girl.
Haydi, örneğin şu kıza bakalım.

We’ll say she is, we can say many different adjectives, I’ll choose surprised.
“she is” şeklinde pek çok farklı İngilizce sıfat kullanabiliriz, ben “surprised” (şaşırmış) kelimesini seçeceğim.

So again, surprised is technically verb 3, and technically we have a passive sentence. So again, we have a lot of passive verb 3 adjectives that again, are passive sentences, they’re not an active sentence.
Öyleyese tekrar, “Surprised” (şaşırmış) İngilizce kelimesiteknik olarak İngilizce’de fiilin 3. halidir (verb 3) ve bu İngilizce cümlede teknik olarak edilgen çatılı bir cümle olur.İngilizce’de pek çok V3 edilgen çatılı pasif İngilizce sıfatlar bulunur ve tekrar, bunlar İngilizce pasif cümlelerdir, aktif çatılı değildirler.

Let’s look at a few more pictures.
Haydi birkaç farklı resme daha bakalım.

OK, so for example, we have this young man.He seems sad. So we can make a very easy active sentence. He is sad. Active sentence.
Tamam, bu resimde genç bir erkek’imiz var.O üzgün görünüyor. Öyleyse çok kolay etken çatılı-aktif İngilizce bir cümle kurabiliriz. “He is sad (O üzgün)”.İngilizce aktif cümle.

Let’s change it to a passive sentence.
Haydi bunu İngilizce pasif (edilgen çatı) bir cümleye çevirelim.

Let’s use a different adjective that means something very similar.
Çok yakın anlama sahip başka bir İngilizce “adjective” (sıfat) kullanalım.

For example(Örneğin);

He is depressed. There we have a verb 3, passive.
“He is depressed (O bunalmış)”. Burada İngilizce’de verb 3 yapısında, pasif bir fiilimiz var.

Let’s look at the full sentence.
Haydi tam İngilizce cümleye bakalım.

Why is he depressed? Maybe he is depressed, and we use this preposition, by, for many passive sentences, why is he depressed? Maybe he is depressed by, ah, we’ll say, his job. Maybe his job is very difficult and maybe he doesn’t like his job. So he is depressed by his job.
“Why is he depressed (O neden bunalmış?)”. Belki o bunalmış (maybe he is depressed) ve “by (tarafından/dolayı)” edatını bir çok İngilizce pasif cümle için kullanabiliriz, “Niçin bunalmış?” (Why is he depressed?)Belki bunalmış çünkü, hah, işi nedeniyle diyeceğiz.Belki işi çok zor ve belki sahip olduğu işini sevmiyor. Öyleyse işinden dolayı bunalmış (he is depressed by his job).

We can change this sentence to an active sentence.
Bu cümleyi İngilizce aktif (etken çatılı) bir cümleye çevirebiliriz.

He, is our subject, his job, is our object. If we change these, we can make a new active sentence.
İngilizce’de “O” (he) öznemiz; “(onun) işi” (his job) nesnemizdir. Eğer bunları değiştirirsek, İngilizce yeni bir aktif (etken çatılı) bir cümle yapabiliriz.

His job is, I don’t want the -ed anymore, I want a normal adjective, so I can use depressing. Which tense is this? Present continuous.
“Onun işi…” (His job is) “-ed” ekine ihtiyacım yok, bu nedenle de normal bir İngilizce sıfat “depressing (bunaltıcı)” kelimesini kullanacağım. Bu İngilizce’de hangi zaman (tense) dır? İngilizce şimdiki zaman (Present continuous).

So let’s look at a few more examples.
Haydi birkaç daha örneğe daha bakalım.

OK, we see two more men. This man, we can do a typical active sentence, he is angry, or I can do a passive sentence, he is enraged. So this just means extremely angry. He looks extremely angry or he is enraged. Why is he enraged? Maybe he’s enraged by his wife. What did she do? I don’t know.
Evet, iki adam görüyoruz.“Bu adam….” şeklinde tipik bir İngilizce aktif bir cümle yapabiliriz: “He is angry (O öfkeli).’’ ya da İngilizce pasif bir cümle yapabiliriz: “He is enraged (O öfkelendirilmiş).” Bu sadece o adam çok öfkeli anlamına gelir. O çok öfkeli veya sinirlendirilmiş görünüyor.Neden sinirli? Belki eşi tarafından sinirlendirilmiştir. O ne yaptı? Bilmiyorum.

We can make it active by taking our subject and object and changing them.
İngilizce’de özne ve nesnemizi alıp onları değiştirerek aktif (etken çatılı) yapabiliriz.

His wife is we don’t want the -ed, we want to change it to enraging.
His wife is… (Onun eşi…) Artık “mış” anlamına gelen “-ed” ekini kullanmak istemiyorum, dolayısıyla “enraging (sinir bozucu)” şeklinde düzenliyorum.

So now we have a typical active sentence with a typical adjective.
Şimdi tipik bir sıfat (adjective) ile tipik bir İngilizce aktif cümlemiz var.

All right, let’s look at just a few more, this man, maybe he’s depressed also. She looks sad. She is sad.
Tamamdır, haydi daha fazla örneğe bakalım, bu adam, belki o da bunalmış. O üzgün görünüyor. ‘’O üzgün.” (She is sad)

So again, we can do depressed, maybe she’s worried also. So I am worried is a passive sentence. She is worried also passive.
Yine “depressed (bunalmış)” yapabiliriz, belki aynı zamanda “She is worried (O kaygılı)”.“I am worried (Ben kaygılıyım)” İngilizce pasif (edilgen çatılı) bir cümledir.“She is worried (O kaygılı)” da İngilizce pasif-edilgen çatılıdır.

These two children, they am, is, are, are excited. Why? Maybe they’re going to Disneyworld, I don’t know but they are excited. Maybe if they are going to Disneyworld, let’s change the sentence, they are excited by Disneyworld changes to active, Disneyworld is exciting.
Bu iki çocuk “they, am, is, are” heyecanlı (excited).Neden? Belki Disneyworld’a gidecekler, bilmiyorum, fakat heyecanlanmışlar. Belki eğer Disneywworld’a gideceklerse, “They are excited by Disneyworld (Disneyworld’tan dolayı heyecanlılar).” cümlesini şu şekilde İngilizce’de aktif yapıya çevirelim: “Disneyworld is exciting (Disneyworld heyecan vericidir).”
So you have to think when you’re making passive or active sentences, what is important?

İngilizce Passive (edilgen) ve İngilizce active (etken) yapılı cümle kurarken neyin önemli olduğunu düşünmeniz gerekir. Is Disneyworld important in the sentence? Or are they important in the sentence? All right, so again, maybe she is shocked.
İngilizce cümlede önemli olan Disneyworld mu? Yoksa cümlede “onlar” mı önemlidir? Tamamdır, tekrar, “Maybe he is shocked (belki o şok olmuştur)”.

George Bush. Normally, George Bush is confused.
George Bush. George Bush’un kafası normalde karışıktır.

And finally, maybe again, maybe this man is in an English lesson, the English lesson is really, really long, it’s a 4-hour English lesson.
Ve son olarak, belki yine, bu adam belki bir İngilizce dersindedir ve  İngilizce dersi çok, çok uzun, bu 4 saatlik bir İngilizce dersi.

The teacher is just talking and talking and talking and talking, maybe he is bored. Why is he bored? He is bored by his teacher at English lessons.
Öğretmen sadece sürekli konuşuyor, konuşuyor ve konuşuyor “Maybe he is bored (belki o sıkılmış)”. O neden sıkılmış? İngilizce dersindeki öğretmenden dolayı sıkılmış diyebiliriz.

And if we change it to active? We can say, his teacher is bored, becomes boring. So you have to be very careful when you’re using the -ing adjectives. Boring, exciting, you have to be very careful if it’s an active sentence or a passive sentence.
Ve İngilizce aktif cümleye çevirmek istersek ne olur? His teacher is bored (sıkılmış), boring’e (sıkıcı) dönüşür diyebiliriz.Öyleyse, İngilizce’de “-ing” sıfatlarını kullanırken çok dikkatli olmalısınız. Boring (sıkıcı), exciting (heyecan verici) kullanırken aktif (etken çatı) veya pasif (edilgen çatı) İngilizce cümle olup olmadıklarına çok dikkat etmelisiniz.

Let’s go to the next use of passive.
Haydi İngilizce’de passive (edilgen çatı) yapının bir sonraki kullanım şekline gidelim.

Emotions, we’ve finished emotions.
Duygular, duyguları tamamladık.

So let’s look at some examples.
Öyleyse bazı örneklere bakalım.

Victims, all right, what is a victim? I think in Turkish, victim is kurban.
Victims, Victims ne demektir? Sanırım victim Türkçe’de “kurban” anlamına gelir.

So let’s look at some examples.
Öyleyse bazı örneklere bakalım.

Ah, this is not always Kurban Bayram, right? We can have many different kinds of victims.
Ah, bu daima kurban bayramı anlamına gelmez, değil mi? Bir çok farklı kurban çeşidine sahip olabiliriz.

So let’s see a video example of some victims… OK… so, everybody was eaten by a shark in this video… OK… so, ah, in this video, we have some people who are victims, um, maybe we can also talk about her emotion.
Öyleyse haydi bazı kurban örnekleri olan videoya bakalım… Tamam… Bu videoda herkes köpek balığı tarafından yendi… Tamam… Ah, bu videoda, kurban olan bazı insanlar var, hmm belki bu bayanın duygularından da bahsedebiliriz.

She was shocked, possibly, so we have a passive emotion, why?By the birds. And maybe the glass, also, maybe the birds hit the glass, so we can say, ah, the glass was broken by the birds.
Şoke olmuş, muhtemelen, yani pasif bir duyguya sahibiz, neden? Kuşlar nedeniyle.Ve belki cam veya kuşlar cama çarptı ve bu yüzden “The glass was broken by the birds (Cam kuşlar tarafından kırıldı).”

So many different victims, many different passive emotions also.So that’s our second normal use of the passive. It’s for victims. The first is emotions, the second is victims.
Bir çok farklı kurban ve farklı pasif anlamda kullanılan duygu ifadeleri. Yani bu İngilizce’de pasif (edilgen çatı) yapısının ikinci genel kullanımıdır. Kurbanlar için.İlki duygular, ikincisi kurbanlardır.

Let’s look at the final use.
Haydi sonuncu kullanımına bakalım.

Processes(İşlemler)

How we do things. Step by step.
Birşeyleri nasıl yaparız? Adım adım.

So let’s look at a video of a chef and he’s going to show us how to cook something.
Haydi bir aşçının videosunu izleyelim, bize birşeylerin nasıl pişirildiğini gösterecek.

“We’re going to make omelettes. Omelettes are fantastic, they’re cheap, they’re flexible, you can use all sorts of different things, crispy bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, cheeses, you name it.
“Omlet yapacağız. Omlet çok güzeldir, ucuz ve pratik bir yemektir ve gevrek pastırma, mantar, domates, peynir ve aklınıza gelen her çeşit malzeme kullanabilirsiniz, adını siz koyun.

I think omelettes are the kind of thing that don’t really get, ah, the sort of credit they’re due, actually, if they’re cooked beautifully, they are incredible, they’re cheap, eggs are one of the best forms of protein, go free-range organic eggs, you’ll be laughing. Personally I use three eggs for a main course omelette. Just crack them in like this.
Omlete hakettiği önemin verilmediğini düşünüyorum, aslında eğer güzel pişirilirse, omlet çok harikadır, inanılmazdır, yumurtalar en iyi protein kaynaklarındandır, organik köy yumurtası kullanın, sizi gülümsetir.Kişisel olarak ana yemeklerde üç yumurta kullanırım.Yumurtaları tam bu şekilde kırın.

Get your egg, crack it on the side, open it up, if for any reason you got shell in there, use the half of the shell to get the shell out, and if you try it with your fingers, you’ll be going like this all night and it won’t work.
Yumurtanızı alın, kenarından kırıp içini açın, her hangi bir şekilde içine kabuk parçası karışırsa, onu kabuğun diğer yarısını kullanarak çıkartın ve eğer parmağınızla yapmak isterseniz, tüm gece şu şekilde uğraşırsınız fakat işe yaramaz.

So get your salt and pepper, like that, some people put milk and cream, I don’t, at all, I’ve got a pan, the right size pan about, sort of, 7 inches, I guess, ah, that’s on a medium heat.
Tuz ve biber atın, bazıları süt ve krema ekler ama ben hiç yapmam, tam ideal ölçüde, yaklaşık 7 inç büyüklüğünde orta ateşte ısıtılmış tavam var.

Whisk up your eggs, just a little bit of oil, extra virgin is obviously a nicer way to go, a knob of butter in there, let that start to melt, give it a … about in the pan, you want to coat the bottom of the pan like that.
Yumurtanızı çırpın, biraz sıvı yağ ekleyin, doğal sızma zeytinyağı kesinlikle daha iyidir, bir yumru büyüklüğünde margarin koyup eritin… ve tavanın tabanını şu şekilde kaplamalısınız.

The good thing about omelettes and eggs is that if you get the first one wrong, then learn from it, try again, and just get it perfect, ‘cause they’re cheap.”
Omlet yapmak ve yumurta pişirmenin iyi yönü şu, eğer ilk seferde hata yaparsanız, bundan öğrenip tekrar deneyerek mükemmelleştirebilirsin, çünkü ucuzlar.

OK, so let’s talk about what’s happening. He’s making the omelette.
Tamamdır, haydi neler olduğu hakkında konuşalım.O omleti yapıyor.

We have some example sentences.
Birkaç örnek cümlemiz var.

First he broke the eggs. Or we can change it to the eggs are broken. So what’s the difference between the butter is melted and, if we make the active sentence, he melted the butter?
İlk olarak yumurtaları kırdı. Bu cümleyi İngilizce’de “Eggs are broken (yumurtalar kırıldı)” şeklinde değiştirebilir miyiz? İngilizce’de “Butter is melted (yağ eridi)” ile “He melted the butter (O yağı eritti)” arasındaki fark nedir?

So we’ve got our passive sentence, and our active sentence. Why are we using passive for this video of how to make an omelette? Because when you’re reading a recipe in a recipe book, the person who is making the omelette is not important. The omelette is important.
Burada aktif (ekten çatı) ve pasif (edilgen çatı) yapısında İngilizce cümleler var. Omlet yapmak ile ilgili bu videoda neden İngilizce pasif (edilgen çatı) yapısını kullanıyoruz? Çünkü bir yemek tarifi kitabından yemek tarifini okurken, omleti yapanın bir önemi yoktur.Önemli olan omlettir.

Omelettes. Can they breathe? Can they eat? Can they live? No. So omelettes are passive. So if the important topic is the omelette, then we must use a passive sentence because omelettes are not active, they’re passive.
Omlettler. Onlar nefes alabilir mi? Onlar yemek yiyebilir mi? Canlı mıdır? Hayır. Öyleyse omletler pasif konumdadır. Dolayısıyla önemli olan konu omletler ise, omletler aktif değil pasif konumda oldukları için İngilizce’de pasif (edilgen çatı) yapısını kullanmalıyız.

So let’s look at one more video of a different kind of process.
Farklı bir süreç anlatan bir video daha izleyelim.

Shisha or Nargile.
Shisha diğer adı Nargile.

So first, our sentence, the water is poured into the bottle. Maybe then, the top is pushed into the bottom. The plate is put on top. We can continue, is put, is put, is put. Now the tobacco. The tobacco is put into the bowl. Is the person important? No. The nargile is important.
İlk olarak, cümlemiz su şişeye doldurulur. Belki ardından üst kısım aşağı itilir. Plaka üst kısma yerleştirilir. “…konulur.”, “…yerleştirilir” şeklinde devam edebiliriz. Şimdi sıra tütüne geldi. Tütün seramik kabın içine konur. Bu işi yapan kişi önemli midir? Hayır. Nargile önemlidir.

So we use passive.
O zaman İngilizce’de pasif (edilgen çatı) yapısını kullanıyoruz.

So that is our final use of passive.
Bu İngilizce’de pasif yapının son kullanım şeklidir.

So, again, the first one, emotion, the second one, victims, and finally, process.
Öyleyse tekrar edecek olursak, İngilizce’de birinci kullanım alanı duygular, ikincisi kurbanlar ve sonuncusu süreçlerdir.

So thank you again for watching the Speak English® video lesson series.

İngilizce Past Simple Vs. Past Continuous Video Konu Anlatımı

İngilizce Past Simple vs. Past Continuous Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to Speak English ®  online video lessons.
Speak English® online İngilizce video derslerine hoş geldiniz.

My name’s Cari. I’ll be your teacher today and the topic we’re looking at today is past simple versus past continuous.
Benim adım Cari.Bugünkü öğretmeninizim ve inceleyeceğimiz konu İngilizce’de Simple Past Tense (dili geçmiş zaman) ile İngilizce Past Continuious Tense (dili geçmiş zamanın hikâyesi).

So let’s look at the grammar first.
İlk olarak, İngilizce dilbilgisi yapısına bakalım.

Of course, past simple is just subject plus verb 2 plus object whereas past continuous we use subject plus was/were plus verb  -ing plus object.
Tabi ki, İngilizce’de -di’li Simple Past Tense’te yapı “Özne + V2 (Fiilin ikinci hali) + nesne, diğer taraftan İngilizce’de Past Continuous Tense’te ise yapı “Özne + was/were + V-ing (Fiil –ing takısı alır) + nesne” şeklindedir.

So normally, we use these two together, but first let’s look at some different tenses on a timeline.
Normalde İngilizce’de bu iki zamanı bir arada kullanırız ancak zaman çizelgesinde farklı zamanlara bakalım.

For example;
Örneğin;

This is now and this is when you were born. Let’s say, 2007 you were married.
Bu çizgi şimdiyi, bu da doğduğunuz tarihi göstersin. 2007’de evlendiniz diyelim.

Which tense is this? Which tense does this represent? Of course, it represents past simple.
Bu hangi zamandır? Bu İngilizce’de hangi zamanı temsil eder? Elbette Simple Past Tense’i temsil eder.

Let’s look at a different timeline.
Haydi İngilizce’de farklı bir zaman çizelgesine bakalım.

Maybe now, maybe born and it’s tomorrow is an event, maybe tomorrow is married.
Belki şu an, belki doğum yarınki bir olay mevcut, belki de yarın evlenecek.

Which tense does this represent? It represents future tense.
Bu İngilizce’de hangi zamana karşılık gelir? Tabi ki Future Tense (İngilizce’de Gelecek Zaman)’a karşılık gelir.

Maybe our sentence is, tomorrow I’m going to get married.
Belki de İngilizce cümlemiz “Yarın evleneceğim” (tomorrow I’m going to get married) dir.

So future tense will look like this on a timeline.
Öyleyse İngilizce’de future tense (gelecek zaman) zaman çizgisinde bu şekilde görünecek.

Now, born, which tense is this where we don’t tell the person when it happened?
Şu an veya doğum vb ne zaman gerçekleştiğini söyleyemediğimiz durumlar İngilizce’de hangi zamana karşılık gelir?

This one can be present perfect.
Bu İngilizce’de Present Perfect Tense’e karşılık gelir.

For example;
Örneğin;

A sentence, I have learned English. OK, but when?
“Ben İngilizce öğrendim” (I have learned English). Tamam, ama ne zaman?

We didn’t say with this tense, present perfect.
İngilizce’de bu zaman yapısında (present perfect tense) olayın zamanını söylemedik.

Let’s look at one more.
Haydi başka bir İngilizce cümle örneğine daha bakalım.

Now, let’s say 2011 and the example is working at Speak English®.
Şimdi, İngilizce örnek cümle olarak diyelim ki 2011 ve “Speak English®’te çalışıyor”.

Which tense is this? This one will represent present perfect continuous.
Bu İngilizce’de hangi tense’tir? İngilizce’de Present Perfect Continuous Tense’e karşılık gelir.

I have been working at Speak English® since 2011. So represented on our timeline, present perfect continuous tense will look like this.
“Ben 2011’den bu yana Speak English®’te çalışıyorum.” (I have been working at Speak English® since 2011) Dolayısıyla, İngilizce’de Present Perfect Continuous Tense zaman çizelgemizde şu şekilde gösterilir.

Finally, let’s see what past continuous looks like on a timeline.
Son olarak, İngilizce’de Past Continuous Tense (Dili Geçmiş Zamanın Hikâyesi)’in zaman çizelgesinde nasıl göründüğüne bakalım.

So normally, we would use past continuous and past simple together.
İngilizce’de normalde past continuous ve past simple tense’i birlikte kullanırdık.

So, we’ll use past continuous, which will look like this and then we use past simple to represent, for example, here.
Past Continuous Tense İngilizce zaman çizelgemizde şu şekilde, daha sonra İngilizce’de Simple Past Tense’i  şu noktada kullanırız.

So maybe our sentence is, riding a bike, or riding a bicycle, and our past simple action is fell.
Belki İngilizce cümlemiz, riding a bike, veya riding a bicycle, ve İngilizce’de past simple aksiyonumuz fell.

So how can I make this sentence? First, I have to choose, do I want to use when or while?
Bu İngilizce cümleyi nasıl oluşturabilirim? İlk olarak, İngilizce’de “when” mi “while” mı kullanmak istediğimi seçmeliyim.

So what do these two mean? Normally, we would use when for a fast action and we would use while for a long action.
Öyleyse bu ikisi ne anlama gelir? Normalde İngilizce cümlelerde “When”i çabuk meydana gelen bir olayı anlatmak için “while”ı daha uzun süren bir olayı anlatmak için kullanırız.

So riding a bike, would that be a fast action or a long action? Do you ride the bike, finish, stop? Or do you ride the bike for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, one hour?
Öyleyse, İngilizce “bir bisiklet sürmek” (riding a bike) eylemi kısa mı yoksa uzun süreli bir eylem midir? Bisikleti sürersin, bitti, dur mu? Yoksa bisikleti 5, 10 dakika, 1 saat sürer misin?

So riding a bike, normally, would be a long action and we’d use the time expression while.
Yani bisiklete binmek normal durumlarda İngilizce’de uzun bir eylem olarak kabul edilir ve “while” ifadesini kullanırız.

So we use long actions for which tense? Past simple or past continuous?
Öyleyse İngilizce’de uzun eylemleri anlatmak için hangi tense’i kullanırız? Simple Past mı yoksa Past Continuous mu?

With a long action, we’d use past continuous. With a fast action we would use past simple.
Uzun eylemlerde Past Continuous’u kullanırız. Çabuk meydana gelen eylemlerde Simple Past Tense’i kullanırız.

So let’s look at this sentence now.
Öyleyse haydi şu İngilizce cümleye bakalım.

When or while for riding a bike? Long action so we use while and we use past continuous tense.
İngilizce’de “riding a bike” için “while” mı yoksa “when” mi kullanmalıyız? Uzun bir eylem, yani “while” ve Past Continuous Tense’i kullanırız.

While subject was/were, let’s say I,  was verb -ing riding a bike, comma, then for our fast action, fell, we use past simple and you can use when, when I fell.
“While” + Özne + was/were + V-ing  (riding a bike) + , + çabuk meydana gelen eylem (fell) ve Simple Past kullanırız ve burada “when”i  “when I fell” şeklinde kullanabilirsiniz.

Yeah, so past simple sentence subject verb 2, no object here. So I have to choose, do I want to use while or when?
İngilizce’de Past Simple ile kurulan cümlede V2 (fiilin ikinci hali) kullanılıyor. Seçim yapmam gerekiyor, “when” veya “while” kullanmak istiyor muyum?

I cannot use both but it doesn’t matter, I can choose while and erase here.
İkisini birlikte kullanamam ama bu sorun değil; “while”ı seçip burayı silebilirim.

While I was riding a bike, comma, I fell. Or I can erase while, I was riding a bike when I fell. It doesn’t matter, you choose.
“Bisiklet sürerken” (While I was riding a bike) virgül “düştüm” (fell). Veya “whie”ı silip “I was riding a bike when I fell” (Düştüğümde bisiklete biniyordum). Sorun değil, kendiniz seçin.

I’ll leave it like this.
Bu şekilde bırakacağım.

So let’s look at another example.
Şimdi başka bir örneğe bakalım.

So to review, when, we use it for fast actions. While, we use for a long action.
Öyleyse gözden geçirirsek, İngilizce’de çabuk gerçeklerşen eylemler için ”when” kullanırız. İngilizce cümlelerde uzun eylemler için ”while” kullanırız.

When, fast action, which tense? Past simple or past continuous? We’ll use past simple. And while, the long action, will be past continuous.
When çabuk meydana gelen eylemler, hangi zaman? Past simple mı Past Continuous mu? Past simple’ı kullanacağız ve While’ı uzun olan “Past Continuous” olacak.

So let’s look at another timeline and write a sentence.
Haydi İngilizce’de başka bir zaman çizelgesine bakalım ve bir cümle yazalım.

For example;
Örneğin;

Let’s do work and then we’ll do fired which means they said you don’t work here anymore, sorry, goodbye.
Çalışma ve sonra işten atılma – “Artık burada çalışmıyorsun. Güle güle” denildiği zaman – ilgili  bir İngilizce cümle düşünelim.
So let’s use the long action, while. While I was working at, we’ll say, Speak English® , comma, yes that’s a fast action, you come to work, you make a mistake, they say bye-bye to you. So, we’ll use past simple. I was fired. And again, I can use when. So I can erase while. I was working at Speak English® when I was fired. No problem. It doesn’t matter.
Yani uzun süren eylemi kullanalım, “while”. “While I was working at Speak English® (Speak English®’te çalışıyorken), …evet bu İngilizce’de kısa süren bir eylem; işe gelirsin ve bir hata yaparsın, size güle güle derler. Öyleyse İngilizce cümlemizde past simple kullanacağız. “I was fired (işten kovuldum)”. Ve yine ”When” kullanabilirim. Yani ”While” i silebilirim.Ya da “While I was working at Speak English®, I was fired (Speak English®’te çalışıyorken işten kovuldum)” . Problem yok. Önemli değil.

So what happens if I have two things happening at the same time?
Peki İngilizce cümlede eğer elimizde aynı anda meydana gelen iki olay varsa ne olur?

I can use travelling, and maybe I can use painting. So maybe I‘m travelling all over Europe and in every city I want to make a painting. So, I do this for a long time. I’m travelling for a long time and I’m painting for a long time. I can use when? No. Because they’re not fast actions. I can only use while. They’re long actions and only past continuous.
“Travelling” (Seyahat) veya belki “Painting” (Boyama) kullanabilirim.Yani belki tüm Avrupayı dolaşıyorum ve her şehirde resim yapmak istiyorumYani bunu uzun bir sürede yapıyorum. Uzun bir zaman boyunca seyahat ediyorum ve uzun bir zaman boyunca resim yapıyorum.İngilizce cümlede When’i kullanabilir miyim? Hayır. Çünkü bunlar çabuk gerçekleşen eylemler değil. Bir tek “While”ı kullanabilirim. Bunlar uzun süren eylemler ve sadece Past Continuous.

While I was travelling, while I was painting. So I can use while here or here but I choose one so maybe I’ll take this. While I was travelling, comma, I was painting.
“While I was travelling (Seyahat ederken..)”, “While I was painting (Resim yaparken)” Yani İngilizce’de “while”ı burada veya şurada kullanabilirim fakat birini tercih etmek durumundayım. “While I was travelling, I was painting” (Seyehat ederken resim yapıyordum).

Let’s do just a couple more examples of some problems that you might have.
Haydi bir kaç tane daha bazı problemler yaşayabileceğiniz İngilizce örnek cümleler yapalım.

Maybe I’m not using a verb. Maybe I’m using an adjective like pregnant, for example. Ah, pregnant is not a verb, it’s an adjective. But it is a long time. And let’s say we’ll use while for the long time, but again there’s no verb.
İngilizce cümlede belki bir fiil kullanmıyorum. Belki “pregnant” (hamile) gibi bir İngilizce sıfat kullanıyorum. “Pregnant” kelimesi bir İngilizce’de fiil değil, bir sıfattır. Fakat bu uzun bir süreçtir. Ve uzun bir süreç için İngilizce cümlemizde “while”ı kullanacağız diyelim ama tekrar ediyorum orada bir eylem yok.

The verb is am, is, are and it’s not an action verb. So, for continuous tenses I can only use action verbs, so that’s a problem. What I can do is just make a past simple sentence.
İngilizce’de fiil “am, is, are”; bu hareket bildiren bir fiil değil. Yani, İngilizce’de continuous tense’ler için yalnız hareket bildiren fiileri kullanabilirim, öyleyse bu bir problem.Yapabileceğim tek şey “past simple” ile bir İngilizce cümle kurmaktır.

While I was pregnant, and again, I cannot say while I being pregnant, now you cannot do that, so while I was pregnant, then what can we say? How about another long action?
“While I was pregnant” (Ben hamileyken)”, şunu söyleyemem “While I being pregnant’’, öyleyse İngilizce cümlemiz “while I was pregnant” peki sonrasında ne diyebiliriz? Bir başka uzun süreli eylem nasıl olur?

Maybe, eating a lot. So while I was pregnant I,  and it was a long action, 9 months, every day, I was eating a lot of ice cream, for example.
Belki “çok yemek” (eating a lot). Yani İngilizce cümle “While I was pregranant (ben hamileyken)” –ve uzun bir süreçti, 9 ay– “I was eating a lot of ice cream (çok dondurma yiyordum)” mesela.

All right, so let’s look at one more concept before we finish.
Tamamdır, öyleyse bunu bitirmeden önce bir kavrama daha bakalım.

This concept of when and while.
İngilizce’de “when” ve “while” kavramları.

When we’re using it with past simple and past continuous sentences, we are using it to tell people if it was a fast action or a long action. But maybe, we’re using it for a different concept. Maybe we are telling a story or a memory. Everybody starts with, one day, I blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
İngilizce’de past simple ve past continuous cümlelerinde kullandığımızda, insanlara onun kısa veya uzun bir eylem olup olmadığını anlatmak içim kullanıyoruz.Ama belki farklı bir konsept için kullanıyoruz. Belki bir hikâye veya anıyı anlatıyoruz. Herkes İngilizce cümlelere “One day, I” (bir gün ben) vs diye başlar.

But let’s tell the person more than one day.
Haydi dinleyiciye İngilizce’de bir günden daha fazlasını anlatalım.

When is one day? Was it ten years ago? Was it yesterday? Was it one year ago?
Bir gün ne zamandır? On yıl önce miydi? Dün müydü? Bir yıl önce miydi?

Let’s do something a little different.
Haydi şimdi biraz daha farklı bir şey yapalım.

Maybe you can say, when I was a child. So, is it a fast action? Being a child? Not really. We are a child for about 16, 17, 18 years, so this is a long action, but we’re using when. This is not a problem.
Belki “When I was a child (ben çocukken)” diyebilirsin. Yani, bu İngilizce’de hızlı bir eylem midir? Çocuk olmak? Aslında değil.16, 17, 18 yıl boyunca bir çocuğuz, yani bu uzun bir eylemdir fakat “when”i kullanıyoruz. Bu problem değil.

Let’s say that I use when.
Haydi İngilizce cümlede “when” i kullanıyorum diyelim.

When I lived in Alaska. Oh, there are commas here. Maybe it was only 6 months, maybe it was 6 years. I can change it to when or while. When I was living in Alaska. Or while I lived in Alaska. It’s not a problem because it’s all about what you’re thinking.
“When I lived in Alaska (ben Alaska’da yaşarken)”. Burada virgüller var. Belki sadece 6 aydı, belki 6 yıldı. Bunu İngilizce cümlelerde “when” veya “while”a çevirebilirim.“When I was living in Alaska (Ben Alaska’da yaşarken). Ya da “While I lived in Alaska, (Ben Alaska’da yaşıyorken)”. Bu problem değildir çünkü bu tamamen senin ne düşündüğünle alakalıdır.

Was it a long time in Alaska? OK, use while. Was it a small time in Alaska? Use when. So this is your opinion and that’s not important. So we can use when or while.Typically with I was a child, everybody uses when. People don’t normally say while.
Alaska’da uzun bir zaman mıydı? Tamam, İngilizce cümlede “while” kullan. Alaska’da kısa bir zaman mıydı? İngilizce cümlede “when”i kullan.Yani bu sizin düşüncenizdir ve önemli değildir.Yani ingilizce cümlede “when” ya da “while”ı kullanabiliriz.Tipik olarak, İngilizce cümlelerde “I was a child” ile herkes “when” kullanır. İnsanlar İngilizce cümlelerde normalde “while” demezler.

Let’s do a few more examples.
Haydi birkaç İngilizce cümle örneği daha yapalım.

We can do when or while I was in university, so again, you can begin telling a story or telling a memory, you don’t need to use one day, we can use when I was a child or while I lived in Alaska or while I was in university.
“When / While I was in university (ben üniversitedeyken) şeklinde kullanabiliriz, böylece bir anı veya hikaye anlatmak istediğinizde “one day” (bir gün) kullanmanıza gerek yok; “When I was a child” (Ben çokcukken), “While I lived in Alaska” (Ben Alakska’da yaşıyorken), “While I was in university” (Ben üniversitedeyken) şeklinde kullanabiliriz.

If you want, you can do past continuous. While I was studying in university.Again you can play with this, you can do anything you want to here.
Eğer isterseniz, İngilizce cümleyi Past Continuous yapabilirsiniz.”While I was studying in university.” (Ben üniversitede okurken). Yine bu ifadelerde oynayabilirsiniz, burada ne isterseniz yapabilirsiniz.

So, finally, I’ll tell you a little story and give you some examples from the story.
Son olarak size bir İngilizce hikâye anlatacağım ve bu hikâyeden bazı örnekler vereceğim.

I’ll begin my story with when I lived in Alaska, so this is a true story.
Hikâyeme ben Alaska’da yaşarken diyerek başlayacağım, yani bu gerçek bir hikaye.

When I lived in Alaska with my husband, we were working on a boat.
Eşimle birlikte Alaska’da yaşarken, bir gemide çalışıyorduk.

So I used past continuous in this sentence because it was a long time, everyday.
Öyleyse bu İngilizce cümlede Past Continuous kullandım çünkü uzun bir zaman ve hergün.

We were working on boats very late. So one night, we got home very late and we were very hungry. We had not eaten dinner, so we went to Macdonald’s. We went and got some fast food. And we took this fast food “paket”, so we were going home with our Macdonald’s. We were walking home with our Macdonald’s bags.
Gemilerde çok geç saatlere kadar çalışıyorduk. Bir gece eve geç geldik ve karnımız çok açtı. Akşam yemeği yememiştik, bu yüzden McDonald’s a gittik. Gittik ve biraz fast food aldık. Paketimizi aldık, elimizde McDonald’s tan aldığımız yiyecekle eve gidiyorduk. (We were going home with our Macdonald’s)Elimizde McDonald’s torbalarımızla eve gidiyorduk. (We were walking home with our Macdonald’s bags.)

So, our house was on a hill and we were at the bottom of the hill and our house was at the top of the hill. So, while we were walking up the hill, up the hill, while we were walking up the hill, suddenly, a lady in a SUV stopped beside us and she said, “Don’t go up there! There’s a bear! There’s a bear at the top of the hill.” And I said “But our house is at the top of the hill.” So she said “Don’t go up there, there’s a bear.” And she drove away.

So, I was very shocked, I was surprised and we were holding Macdonald’s bags and I thought maybe bears like Macdonald’s, but my husband and I decided that we should continue walking up the hill to our house. So again, we continued.
Şoke olmuştum ve şaşırmıştım ve ellerlimizde McDonald’s tan aldığımız yiyecekler vardı ve belki ayılar McDonald’s seviyordur diye düşündüm, ancak eşim ve ben evimize gitmeye devam etmemiz gerektiğine karar verdik. Ve yürümeye devam ettik.

While we were walking up the hill, suddenly, the bear runs directly in front of us, but thankfully, the bear passed us, but it got very, very close to us and it did not eat our Macdonald’s. So, the story ends very happily.
Tepeye çıkarken, ayı aniden önümüze doğru koştu ve neyse ki ayı bizi geçti fakat bize çok çok yaklaşmıştı, yiyeceklerimizi yemedi. Böylece hikâye mutlu bir şekilde sona erdi.

We got home, we ate our Macdonald’s and the bear was around our house for about two weeks. But in Alaska, that’s normal. So again, thank you very much for listening.
Evimize geldik, yiyeceklerimizi yedik ve ayı iki hafta boyunca evin etrafında dolaştı. Ama Alaska’da bu normal.Dinlediğiniz için teşekkür ederim.

I hope that this helps you understand past simple and past continuous.
Umuarım bu sizin İngilizce’de Simple Past ve Past Continuous konusunu anlamanıza yardım eder.

Sorular, izleyici ile etkileşime girmeniz açısından iyi bir fırsattır.İzleyici, ilgisini sorular sorarak gösterir.Gelecek soruları öngörebilir böylece cevapları önceden hazırlayabilirsiniz.

You can accept questions at any time during your presentation or keep time for your questions after your presentation. You’ll make questioning clear during your introduction.Always be polite with questioners, even if they ask difficult questions.
Sunum süresince herhangi bir bölümünde soruları kabul edebilir ya da sorular için sunumunuzun sonunda zaman ayırabilirsiniz. Sorularla ilgili bilgilendirmeyi sunumunuzun giriş kısmında yapacaksınız. Zor sorular sorsalar bile her zaman soru soranlara karşı nazik olun.

This allows your audience to know if they have questions during your presentation whether they should interrupt you or write their questions down to ask you at the end.
Bu, eğer soruları varsa dinleyicilere sözünüzü bölüp bölemeyeceklerini ya da sunumun sonunda sormak üzere sorularını not almalarının gerekip gerekmediğini bilmelerine imkân verir.

The body
Ana kısım

The body is the ‘real’ presentation. If the introduction was well prepared and delivered, you will now be ‘in control’.You will be relaxed and confident. The body should be well structured, divided up logically, with plenty of carefully spaced visuals.

Keep the text to a minimum – never just read text from the visual.
Metni uzunluğunu minimumda tutun – asla sadece görsel araçlar üzerindeki metni okumayın.

Use pauses—give the audience time to understand the picture.
Kısa aralar verin – resmi anlaması için dinleyicilere süre tanıyın.

And when speaking in public, you are your own best visual.
Topluluk önünde konuşurken, kendiniz en iyi görselinizdir..

Tools to present visual information.

We’ve got the overhead projector ,which I think is pretty obsolete. The podium with the microphone, laptop, whiteboard, slide projector and a flip chart. We can also use bar graphs, pie charts, line graphs, pictures, diagrams and flowcharts.
Tepegözümüz var, artık modası geçmiş olduğunu düşünüyorum.Mikrofonlu podyum, dizüstü bilgisayar, beyaz tahta, projektör, kağıt tahtası.Ayrıca bar grafikler, pasta grafik, çizgi grafikler, resimler, diagramlar ve akış şemaları kullanabiliriz.

Language for Meetings
İngilizce Toplantı Kalıpları Video Konu Anlatımı

Welcome to Speak English® online video lessons.
Speak English® onine video derslerine hoş geldiniz.

My name is Lynne and today I’m going to be talking about the language used for meetings or how to interject in meetings.
İsmim Lynne ve bugün İngilizce toplantılarda kullanılan dili ve İngilizce toplantılarda konuya nasıl müdahale edileceğinden bahsedeceğim.

How many times have you sat through a meeting with something to say but never quite knowing when to say it? Or found yourself nodding and smiling in agreement while wondering what the discussion was even about?
Kaç defa bir İngilizce toplantı boyunca oturup, bir şey söylemek isterken bir türlü ne zaman söyleyeceğinizi bilemediğiniz zamanlar oldu?Ya da kendinizi katılırken ve gülümseyerek onaylarken bulduğunuz ama tartışmanın ne olduğunu dahi anlamadığınız durumlar yaşamışsınızdır.

Speaking up in meetings — to interject, or correct someone, to ask for clarification — can be very intimidating. So having a few useful phrases can help you feel more confident to share your thoughts and opinions effectively in group situations or meetings.
İngilizce toplantılarda konuşmak – katılmak, birinin yanlışını düzeltmek, konuyu netleştirmek için soru sormak – çok zor olabilir.Bu yüzden İngilizce grup toplantılarında fikirlerinizi paylaşmada daha güvenli olmanız için bazı yararlı İngilizce deyimleri öğrenmek faydalıdır.

When you’ve got an idea. Often people don’t speak up because they’re afraid of being wrong, or sounding  uninformed. But you can use informal questions or comments to be able to express your idea without committing to the idea.
İngilizce toplantılarda bir düşünceniz olduğu zaman.Sıklıkla insanlar yanlış şeyler söylemekten ve bilgisiz izlenimi vermekten çekindiği için konuşmazlar.Ama birinin fikri üzerinden gitmeden kendi fikrinizi ifade edebilmek için bazı informal sorular sorabilir, yorumlar ekleyebilirsiniz.

For example, we could ask:
Örneğin, şunu sorabilirdik:

Have we thought about…?
Şunu hiç düşündük mü?

Did anyone mention…?
Kimse şundan bahsetti mi?

Another option we may want to consider…
Değerlendirebileceğimiz bir başka seçenek…

Is it worth revisiting…?
Üzerinden tekrar geçmeye değer mi?…

I think that . . .
Şunu düşünüyorum…

I don’t think that . . .
Şunu sanmıyorum…

Or In my opinion . . .
Ya da fikrimce…

With all these statements, we’re asking for additional information or suggesting an idea and the most important point is that we do it professionally and politely.
Tüm bu kalıplarda, ek bir bilgi istiyoruz ve bir fikir öne sürüyoruz ve en önemlisi bunu profesyonelce ve kibarca yapıyoruz.

Now supporting your opinions.
Şimdi fikirlerinizi desteklemek.

Let me illustrate…
Örnek vereyim…

For example…
Örneğin…

For instance…
Örneğin…

Or to give you an example…
Örnek vermek gerekirse…

Let me give you an example…
Size bir örnek vereyim…

To elaborate…
Konuyu genişletmek/açmak için…

Or to sequence something, first, second.
Birşeyleri sıralamak için, birinci,ikinci…

And interrupting politely. Excuse me, Pardon me, Sorry to interrupt, or May I interrupt for a moment?
Ve kibarca kesmek için.Özür dilerim, affedersiniz, kestiğim için özür dilerim, bir saniye kesebilir miyim?

Again in meetings it’s very important to speak up, but do so professionally and politely. Sitting quietly through a meeting can lead others to think that you don’t know what’s going on or you have no interest in the topic at hand.
Tekrarlıyorum, İngilizce toplantılarda konuşmak çok önemlidir, fakat bu profesyonelce ve kibarca yapılmalıdır.İngilizce toplantı boyunca sessizce oturmak, diğerlerinin ne konuşulduğunu anlamadığınız ya da konuya ilgisiz olduğunuzu düşünmesine neden olur.

Asking for support or details.
Destek ve detay almak için.

Why do you think that?
Neden böyle düşünüyorsunuz?

Could you elaborate?
Biraz açabilir misiniz?

Could you give me an example?
Bana bir örnek verebilir misiniz?

Can you illustrate that?
Bunu örnekleyebilir misiniz?

What evidence do you have?
Ne gibi bir kanıtınız var?

Could you explain it in more detail?
Daha detaylı anlatabilir misiniz?

And Could you provide some details?
Daha fazla detay verebilir misiniz?

Now opening a discussion.
Şimdi bir tartışmaya başlarken.

To begin with…
Başlangıç olarak…

Or We need to discuss…
Tartışmamız gereken…

Let’s start by…
Şununla başlayayım…

The problem here is…
Buradaki sorun…

The important thing here is…
Buradaki önemli unsur…

And The main thing we need to discuss is …
Tartışmamız gereken ana konu…

Asking for input.
Katılım için soru sormak.

After a meeting, when someone doesn’t offer a comment or suggestion, it’s often good to simply ask them for their opinion, so offer, What do you think?
Bir İngilizce toplantıdan sonra, kimse bir yorum yapmazsa veya bir öneride bulunmazsa, onların fikirlerini sormak yararlıdır. Bu yüzden ’Ne düşünüyorsunuz?’ diye sorun.

How do you feel about that? Or Any ideas on that?
Bunu nasıl buluyorsunuz?Ya da herhangi bir fikriniz varmı?

To get someone who might have been sitting quietly to engage or participate. And clarifying your own ideas.
Sessiz oturan birini katılmaya ve paylaşmaya davet etmek için.Ve kendi fikrinizi netleştirmek için.

You can offer, In other words…
“Bir başka deyişle” diyebilirsiniz…

What I mean is…
Söylemek istediğim…

What I’m trying to say is…
Söylemeye çalıştığım şey…

And To clarify…
Netleştirmek için…

Responding .
Yanıtlamak.

That sounds like a good idea.
Bu iyi bir fikir gibi gözüküyor.

Sounds good.
Kulağa hoş geliyor.

The problem with that is…
Bunun problemi şu ki…

Or That raises the issue of …
Bu da şu konuyu açıyor…
And asking for clarification.
Ve netleştirmek için sorular sormak.

Getting something cleared up and making sure that you understand it.
Bir konuyu netleştirip anladığınızı belirtmek.
What do you mean by that?
Bununla neyi kastediyorsunuz?

What are you trying to say?
Ne söylemeye çalışıyorsunuz?

What was that again?
Bu neydi, tekrar?

Or Could you clarify that?
Bunu netleştirebilir misiniz?
And then clarifying another’s ideas.
Bir başkasının fikirlerini netleştirmek.

What you mean is…
Demek istediğiniz…

What you’re saying is…
Söylediğiniz şey…

If I understand you…
Eğer sizi doğru anlamışsam…

So, you think that…
Yani, şöyle düşünüyorsunuz…

So, your idea is…
Yani, fikriniz…

Here you’re restating the idea and making sure that you understand it fully.
Burada düşünceyi yeniden ifade ediyor ve tamamen anladığınızdan emin oluyorsunuz.

Checking understanding.
Anlaşıldığınızı kontrol etmek.

We can ask,  Do you understand?
Anladınız mı?…diye sorabiliriz.

Are you with me so far?
Geldiğimiz noktaya kadar bana katılıyor musunuz?

Any questions?
Herhangi bir soru?…

Or in showing our understanding we can respond with I see…
Anladığımızı göstermek için ’görüyorum’ şeklinde yanıtlayabiliriz.

I understand…
Anlıyorum…

Now expressing a lack of understanding.
Şimdi anlamadığınızı ifade etmek.

I’m sorry, I don’t understand…
Üzgünüm, anlamadım…

What do you mean?
Ne demek istediniz?

I don’t follow you…
Sizi takip edemedim…

Or I’m not sure I understand what you mean…
Ne söylediğinizi anladığımdan emin değilim…

Agreeing and disagreeing in meetings.
İngilizce toplantılarda katıldığınızı ya da katılmadığınızı belirtmek.

Appropriate agreement and disagreement is an important part of all meetings.
Uygun bir şekilde onaylamak ya da onaylamamak tüm İngilizce toplantıların önemli bir parçasıdır.

How to agree, some standard phrases.
Katıldığınızı belirtmek için, bazı standart kalıplar.

I entirely agree with you.
Size tamamiyle katılıyorum.

You’re quite right.
Oldukça haklısınız.

I couldn’t agree more.
Daha fazla katılamazdım.

That’s exactly how I see it.
Benimle tam anlamı ile bu şekilde görüyorum.

And That’s just how I feel.
Ve ’Ben de tamamiyle aynı şekilde hissediyorum’…

Now some short answers.
Şimdi bazı kısa cevaplar

So do I.
Bence de.

I do, too.
Ben de.

I don’t either (negative response) Nor do I and  Neither do I.
Ben de öyle düşünmüyorum (olumsuz yanıt).

And how to disagree.
Ve katılmadığınızı belirtmek.

I’m sorry, but I really can’t agree…
Özür dilerim ama, buna katılamam…

I’m not sure about that, to be honest…
Dürüst olmak gerekirse, bu konuda emin değilim.

Well, I don’t know…
Peki, bilmiyorum.

It depends…
Bu …’na bağlıdır…

I’m afraid I really don’t agree…
Korkarım ki gerçekten katılmıyorum.

I’m afraid I don’t totally agree with that…
Korkarımki buna tamamen katılmıyorum…

Yes, I think it is a good idea, but I think it is difficult to implement…
Evet, sanırım bu iyi bir fikir, ama uygulamak için henüz erken…

and Don’t you think it is still a little early?
Hala biraz erken olduğunu düşünmüyor musunuz?

These are all some examples of ways that we can interject our ideas, ask questions, ask for clarification and engage ourselves in meetings and conversations.
Bunların tümü; fikirlerimizi belirtmek, soru sormak, netleştirmek, İngilizce toplantılara ve konuşmalara katılmamızı sağlamak için bazı örnek yollardır.
